Lucas for Tuesday: an early treat & glimpse of Comic-Con

Standard

And for those of you going to beddy-bye soon, this lovely image of our favorite spy between the (royal blue) sheets–

May he inspire sweet dreams for you–or happy daydreams, whatever the time zone you inhabit. ;)   You will notice I have removed a certain Evil Popsicle B**ch with a really horrible accent from the screencap. It was only her hair, but I didn’t even want that.

Blue is definitely his color, I love the fact Thorin’s lovely outfit features blue. *sigh*

Here I go blatantly seeking out your patronage once more, dear readers. Comic-Con is coming up a little over a month from today and my fund is now open for donations. Ain’t too proud to beg, I reckon, as it’s the only way this unemployed lady will get there. Any contribution of any amount is most appreciated.  You can donate through PayPal and the shiny button to the right, or you may send funds directly to me if you please. And thanks again to all those who have already contributed.

Asilomar is also going to offer some of her lovely jewelry–never too early to buy for Christmas!–as a fundraiser for me. More to come on that very soon.  And, judging by these images from past Comic-Cons, I don’t think I shall be bored. ;)

I know that’s not Johnny Depp, but the dude on the right does kinda look like Orlando Bloom. Who is also reprising his role as Legolas in The Hobbit. A chap named Richard Armitage is in it, too, BTW.

Wouldn’t Mr. Armitage make a very handsome and dashing pirate, indeed!

Leias, Leias everywhere!

About fedoralady

I'm an LA native--Lower Alabama, that is. My husband of more than 25 years and I live here in a country home we share with four pets, including a three-legged tuxedo cat with a Hitler mustache. My background is art education, and over the years I've been a teacher, department store photographer, sales associate and a journalist. I love movies, music, art, photography and books, and my tastes are eclectic. It was Richard who was the catalyst for me to pursue fiction writing, first fanfic and now a novel. I also make fanvids and create fanart. RA is my muse and I find him endlessly inspiring.

  1. Btw, Angie, well done for removing GOR from the Lucas picture! It improved the photo immensely! :) Is it hard to do? Removing a person from a picture with photoshop I mean?

    • It depends. It wasn’t hard here because I just had to go in with the clone stamp tool and clone some of the black background to paint over her blonde head. It was trickier when I had to get rid of Maya because there was more of her. ;) Those of Thorin in the cave with the torch–I did the same thing to remove the dwarves kneeling in the background. I wanted Thorin to be front and center. ;) And there are other things you can do to actually remove one person and add another to a picture. I still have a lot to learn. I just have so much fun playing with the artistic tools.

            • It’s a project Asilomar is helping me with for another fundraiser, so I wanted to go ahead and get it up. Trying to wind down now . . . watching “Eight Men Out” again. Normally wouldn’t watch a baseball movie, but it’s about a lot more than baseball and I know the guy who directed it, John Sayles, and his wife/producer Maggie Renzi. They both act in the film, too. I’ve seen it several times.

  2. Angie you had me laughing so much on the Lucas North Midnight Blue photo. I am not proud of the fact that I don’t like GOR paired up with Richard. It makes me look like a jealous ex-girlfirend of Richard’s. So it is nice to know that I am not the only one who didn’t like her. Now I feel normal and vindicated…LOL :-)

I don’t know what it is but every scene in Spooks that Richard and GOR appeared in together made makes me cringe. I couldn’t figure our what Lucas saw in her. To me she was a borderline anorexic who was selfish and self serving to boot. Their relationship was based on sex. Sarah Caulfield also was not a lady. Imagine reserving a hotel room just for you and Lucas even before he makes an official move on you. Maya and Richard together didn’t bother me at all. I love Richard with Dawn and Daniella. .

    • Yes, the scenes with Sarah were awkward and make me cringe every time I see them. He was trying but it must be hard to work with a stick who apparently has no emotions and is not attracted to our handsome man! She doesn’t have our good taste gene! :)

    • I tend to be protective of RA and his characters, and Sarah Caulfield was certainly not good for poor Lucas. I have said every scene in which she appeared, she seemed to suck the very life out of it. It was the horrible accent, her chilliness, total lack of chemistry. the arrogance and shallowness of the character. Sarah Caulfield as written by the scriptwriters, styled by the makeup and wardrobe people, guided by the director and acted by GOR was a failure to me. Richard, as always, did his best, but when you are acting opposite an emotionless block of ice, it isn’t easy.

Lucas’s infatuation with Sarah Caulfield was inexplicable. She wasn’t so jaw-droppingly beautiful that she’d make a normally sane man fall to his knees to worship her. She was a nasty piece of work. It was one thing for Lucas to pursue pillow talk to extract information from the CIA as part of his job; OK, that is sometimes part of a spy’s world. But to show him falling in love with her . . . Nope, didn’t buy it.

  3. Angie I want to contribute to your Comic-Con fund. I am just waiting to hear how much restoring my double front entrance doors are going to cost me. I am a single gal restoring my huge house on my own. Well, actually Mom does sends a little something every now and then even though I tell her that she doesn’t have too. :-) Moms are so special!!!

Just like in the movie The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, YOU have to envision yourself at Comic-Com and keep your focus there. Where you keep your focus, there you are. Also do not put out any talk or feelings of lack and limitation. I cannot stress enough how important that part is. Trust that the Universe will do it’s part. It is not so important to know how you will get the money to take you there but instead KNOWING that you are there already.

    • Thanks, Xenia, I really appreciate it. :D Restoring a house, especially one the size of yours, can be a major undertaking. I have a friend who used to own a Queen Anne Victorian in town which she operated as a bed and breakfast. It’s a wonderful old house–the first one in town to have electric lights–but it also required major upkeep.

Moms have a tendency to do that, to help us out even after we are all grown up. I found it so touching how my mom, even as her health became precarious and she grew more fragile, still tried to look out for her “baby girl” (I am the youngest of three girls). I have been imagining myself at the convention, visualizing what it looks like, seeing myself there with my reporter gear, seeing and hearing Richard, our dear, funny, articulate, lovely Richard.

  4. I would just like to say a million thank you’s, Angie, for removing the only fault with looking at Lucas in bed in series 8. :)

I agree with you. Even the sight of just the evil popsicle’s ‘blonde’ hair sets my teeth on edge. LOL

    • Vicki, Always glad to be of service to the RA community. ;) Yes, knowing she was under the blonde hair (with the dark roots desperately in need of a touch up ;) ) made me eager to blot her out. Now, if only I could figure out how to do it with the entirety of S8. LOL

      • Go back in time (get Dr. Who to take you in the Tardis) with the Ultimate ChaRActer Force and have those men in black get hold of TPTB. Make them get decent writers (maybe some of us?) to correct the situation before it happens.

  5. Angie, I would be happy to contribute to your travel to S.Diego, but my credit card is not international, and I do not know how and from other way I can contribute to help you ,living in another country. What can I do for help you?
