A Look at Lucas for Monday

Standard

Let’s look at lovely, sexy,  angsty, haunted, heroic Lucas . . . enjoyed reading all your comments re questions for Richard. I need to eat brekkie, take my Super-Secret Vitamin and try to get a little sleep.  Hope you’re having a good Monday/Tuesday wherever in the world you may be. ;)

Angie’s going to Comic-Con in San Diego in July!

She’s got her press credentials lined up with Comic Book Resources and she’s making her plans to experience the wonders of Comic-Con International and share them with you all!  If all goes well, she’ll be bringing back lots of news including the 411 on The Hobbit and–*squee* Richard Armitage!!!  You can help make it all possible by donating to her Comic-Con Trip Fund. Any amount is appreciated. Thoughts and prayers welcome, too.  Click the donate button in the sidebar to make a contribution. And Thanks!!

  1. Poor darling Lucas… I know just how he feels, I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night…But I hope that you’ll be able to get some rest, Angie! Fingers crossed!

  2. So, Lucas is just the right type for MI5 according to professor Andrew :-)

I remember an interview with the professor where he said that he certainly hadn’t expected that the people who helped him inside MI5 would look like the beautiful cool officers in the tv series, but that was exactly the type he met. Highly educated, cultured, good-looking and young people, obviously dedicated and efficient. I must say I envy him ;-)

    • You realize that the girl who played Jo was a real Australian, don’t you? Of course, Kimberley (Joseph) had to occasionally over-emphasize her accent as foreigners ( ;) ) have a hard time believing that quite a few of us speak really well. :)

      • I have a similar problem as lots of people think that a Glasgow accent is what all Scottish folk sound like!! :) Can I tell you Kathryn that two of my favourite accents in the world are New Zealand and Australian ones?

        • Wow..thank you. I always get the giggles when I visit Melanie and go shopping or whatever with her…most of the Americans I meet say I have an exotic accent and make me keep talking!

And I apologize…..I keep forgetting you’re Scottish by birth. I was so surprised to find so many different ways of speaking when I visited the UK in 1997. Of course, I realized there were regional accents (I watch a lot of British television…well, at least, those which are shown free-to-air!!) and each of the countries had its own accent but I didn’t know that people in one village might speak one way and then 5 miles down the road, the people sounded almost completely different! Truly amazing to someone who comes from a big country (in landmass if not in population!)

          • Oh, dear…it’s just occurred to me…I think Kimberley might have been born in NZ and I called her an Australian. :)

          • I laughed when I read that book “The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets” and the young heroine (who adored Johnny Ray) wanted to hear the attractive American speak because she thought he sounded “exotic.” People from other parts of the US will tell me they love my southern accent, although I don’t sound nearly as “southern” as some people expect for a girl from the Deep South. ;) The same is true here–people that grew up only a few miles apart can sound very different. One of my mother’s best friends had the oddest twist to her accent that I really didn’t hear in other residents. And she’d lived here her entire life! And my Tennessee relatives sounded completely different from us–they had that lilting mountain cadence to their voices. I love the fact we don’t all sound alike.

            • It is nice, isn’t it? I always think of Melanie’s husband as being a Southern gentleman but he was born in Ohio! He did live in Kentucky for quite some time so his accent probably comes from there. He has the manners of a Southern gentleman.

We don’t all sound exactly alike here but the differences are so slight compared with those one encounters in the UK and The US.

And I am often guilty of forgetting that some of the actors we claim as ours were actually born in NZ! Most of them end up here in our television shows, etc., for a time before they branch out to America or England, so I get muddled up when I’m sleep deprived and headachey! ;)

I think I might have to accept defeat and take some Aspirin. I am alergic to paracetamol which is a bummer…it means I have to rely on Aspirin or ibuprofen – you know, the ones that totally wreck your stomache! Oh heck…do I need an “e” or not at the end of that word? Dozey or what, Kathryn?

              • My father-in-law was born in Ohio, too, southern Ohio. But he spent a number of years in Kentucky before moving to Alabama and he also had a true southern gent’s voice. Well, it makes sense to me that NZ actors would often end up in Aussie shows–I would think there would be more opportunities for them work-wise.

        • Teuchter, I only got as far as Edinburgh in Scotland, and the people there were very kind and helpful, one guy came up to me to give me directions when I looked lost with a map in my hands, but I could not understand a word he was saying to me! It was sooo embarrassing! And the Edinburgh accent is supposed to be “less thick” than the Glasgow accent!

          • hehehe…love it, Judit :)

It’s strange but I have more of a problem with some of the regional English accents than with the Irish, Scottish or Welsh accents!

I’d really love to hear you speak…how can we organize that?

OK, kiddies….I’m on Skype and my username is kathryn.gaul

…just Skype me anytime…like Angie, I’m a really bad sleeper so I’ll probably be awake anyway!!!

Hmmmm…just remember I live in Australia and we are way ahead of you guys timewise ;) just take 2 hours off NZ time :)

            • Kathryn, my accent is “Hunglish”! Every nation has its own very recognizable accent of English. The Hungarians, the Germans, the French…I’d love to skype but my old PC at home could not cope with another software downloaded onto it, it’s extremely slow as it is. Can’t download skype to my work laptop, since I have no admin rights here. I’m planning to get a laptop in the near future! Hopefully later this year..Although I blew a lot of cash on my new kitchen furniture recently so..Anyway I’ll let you know when I’m ready to skype! :)

  3. I’ll play strip whatever with Lee and Lucas any day….well, in my dreams, I’m much younger and much slimmer and possessed of a sparkling personality, of course ;)
