Richard Armitage is sexy. His ChaRActers are sexy. The voice, the eyes, the lips, the nose, the stubble, the jaw, the skin, the moles, the scars, the beard, the entire bod–and the beautiful, funny, sweet, intelligent, delicious soul behind it all. The way he sounds, the way he speaks without saying a word, the way he moves. It’s all good.
So here’s some sexy for you, ladies (and any gentlemen out there) courtesy of Mr. A.

Beautiful, beautiful images! I almost envy you for being able to go to ComicCon!
Ian was also very lovely, wasn’t he?
BTW, have you already watched the documentary on Russian prisons? Was it very scary?
Ian really was quite fetching. I loved how green Richard’s eyes look when he’s wearing certain clothing items here and in SB. The more I look at images and read articles about Comic-Con, the more I am actually getting excited about it.
I did watch the doc, and let me just say, Russian prisons don’t look like a whole lot of fun. One place makes all the prisoners walk around bent over at the waist with their hands bound behind them. If they take them outside, they have to wear a blindfold. Exercise is done in a room, not out in a yard. Their windowless cell is inside another cell which has two doors and they havre someone monitoring their every move 24/7. Basically they never get to see daylight. Very little if any interaction with other prisoners.
I think it was the same place that had this special breed of shepherd dogs. On their hind legs, they are almost as tall as Richard and weigh in at 200 lbs. They are trained to be very aggressive. No one has ever broken out of the place. This didn’t come as a surprise . . . I saw a lot of the tattoos. The onion domes like Lucas’s to mark the number of years/number of sentences served and the stars–which are said to signify they will bow to no one. A lot of religious imagery, too, although it doesn’t necessarily mean what you think it might. A madonna and child, for example, is a symbol that the prisoner has been a thief since childhood.
Oh dear, that is even more awful than I had imagined!
Poor Lucas. My heart goes out to him again.
I saw a documentary some years ago about a Russian penitentiary insitution for teenage girls, it wasn’t nearly as horrible as the prisons you described, Angie but I still shudder whenever I think about it. I don’t know how anyone survives in institutions such as these.
Some of these were very for the worst prisoners–murderers and rapists. Their murder rate is five times what it is in the US, so a lot of people end up in prison for it. Interestingly, the sentences aren’t always really long,, maybe 20 years, so if they are relatively young they do have a pretty good chance to one day get out and lead some semblance of a normal life. For the less severe offenders, the prisons are not as bad. The prisoners in those facilities do actually get to interact with one another to a certain degree, and in Siberia they get to go out and work. There are not enough manual laborers there–only 15 percent of the Russian population live there, so prisoners are used. They actually are glad to get those work details because it makes them feel somewhat normal again. In the prisons for the worst offenders, they basically are isolated for more than 22 hours a day. They eat in their cells. They are very, very much isolated.
If you are interested in russian prison history, you should read Varlam Shalamov’s Kolyma Tales. It’s one of the most heart-rending books I have ever read.
Thank you, Nadia, for the recommendation! Have you read Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s book about the Gulags? I only read “One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich” from Solzhenitsyn, that was quite heart-rending and shocking too.
I am of Russian origin and my grandfather disappeared during Stalin’s purges that’s why I am so interested in Russian culture and history. I’ve read “One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich” and « The Gulag Archipelago » too. I can recommend Eugenia Ginzburg’s books “Within the Whirlwind” and “Journey into the Whirlwind”. It’s not possible to read those books without being emotionally and deeply affected. Must read books !
I’m sorry to hear about your grandfather, Nadia. Hundreds of thousands of Hungarians perished in the Gulags too. Obviously nobody was allowed to write about it or even acknowledge the existence of these camps until the 90s. To this day, we still don’t know exactly how many innocent Hungarians died there.
Oh my, Richard flashing those clear blue diamonds in such a seductive manner at Danni in SB…I think I’d have melted into a puddle at his feet if he’d done that to me…He’s hotter than a 1000 Suns.
I have a really great photo of Richard Armitage as Zorro. It is perfect and doesn’t need any photo shopping. How can I get it to you Angie. The rest of the crew needs to see it.
You can email it to angieDOTlongATcenturytelDOTnet
Thank you Angie. I just emailed the picture to you. I don’t recall seeing it on your blog but since I am new here you may have posted it before I found your blog.
Yes, he’s so sexy! The way he looks at women….shudder…
