Wet, Tousled Armitage

Standard

I have always loved these 2007 photos by Chris Floyd. I can truly say I find Richard Armitage gorgeous pretty much no matter what he does with his hair or his beard  or stubble or lack thereof.  But there’s something about the longish hair, wet and disheveled, that “bed-head” look, that “just stepped out of the shower and toweled my head a bit” I find really appealing.  Also those magnificent, luminous eyes shining through those damp tousled locks . . . and the lips parted ever so slightly, or curved into a slight and enigmatic smile.  The sexy, sexy man of mystery.  And great fun to play with . . . in terms of photo editing, of course. (Oh, love the white shirt, too.)

  1. Wonderful!! I like your description – “just stepped out of the shower and toweled my head a bit.” Did the temperature just go up in here? I’m a bit too old to be having hot flashes! ;) These pictures make me catch my breath and I’m more than a little overcome by just how beautiful he is.

    • Mr. A looks exceptionally well with that particular look, doesn’t he? *sigh* He is just amazingly beautiful. I was thinking about the lack of symmetry in his face, which just makes it more imperfectly perfect, if you know what I mean. ;) Some of the pictures I flipped, so I notice it more when I am working on them.

Those eyes are stunning whether in color, sepia or black and white. And the mouth–my heavens, but the effect that mouth has on a girl . . . *thud*

And I was feeling quite warm myself before it was all done. ;) As Tereza said, he is breathtaking.

    • I really DO need to hop in the shower LOL I don’t think I’ve ever been so enamored of–well, so many qualities, inside and out, of any celebrity. But that mouth–it’s so—expressive. And his lips look really soft. Love the Cupid’s bow of that upper lip . . .

  2. Love it when you wax lyrical about the darling man Angie!! ;) Please don’t stop!! Please go ahead and enjoy your shower of course. My shower is more than big enough for two but I have NO intention of sharing it – well not in RL but a girl can dream, can’t she – even an old one? :D *giggles blushingly* (Is that even a word??) Silly old me!! ;)

    • I haven’t gotten to the shower yet, I just finished watching “To Sir With Love yet” again. Yeah, those over-sized showers are nice. We have one, too. And one of those really big tubs, only it takes every drop of hot water in the heater to fill the thing LOL So we don’t use it too often. ;)

  3. OMG angie, these are stunning, they take my breath away, especially the first one. It’s testament to how his eyes draw you in, even when you can’t see their beautiful colour.
The temperature went up in here too and it wasn’t the central heating! “Just stepped out of the shower” … *fans herself* The stylist for that shoot sure knew what she/he was doing! ;)

    • Didn’t they ever! Very simple–white shirt, plain background, the wet, tousled hair and the beauty and charisma of Richard. “Make love to the camera . . .” Yowza. Yeah, as I have said, it’s much more than just the glorious changeable blue hue that captivates you re those eyes. And I love him in sepia. As you all may have noticed. ;) *sigh*

      • Angie, did you do these in Photoshop? I’m asking because I’m playing around with it, and I haven’t come to frames and text yet! Sometimes it’s easier to look for something specific rather than to stumble across it, if you know what I mean!

        • Actually, I did all of these particular ones using a combination of picmonkey, ipiccy and phixar. All free photo editing sites on the Net. Sometimes I use the photo effects in one program–sepia, Orton, focus blur, sketching, etc. and then use the text, overlay and frames in another. I really have fun just exploring what I can do. It’s amazing how many photo editing sites are out there now that don’t cost a thing to use. I think I have over a dozen bookmarked. Obviously some are better than others.

          • Thanks angie! I’ve taken note of these, as I have others you’ve mentioned. I find that having the time to play around with photo editing is the biggest hurdle I have, there just aren’t enough hours in the day!

            • I am going to do a post at some point providing links to all the better sites and pointing out examples of what can be done using my own stuff so that anyone who wants to play can know where to go and have an idea of what to do w/o needing to invest in software. You could easily spend 24/7 playing with photo editing if you let yourself. Like certain other activities, it’s addictive. ;)

  4. I have these photos in my extensive collection of Richard Armitage images and I love this look of his too. Actually like Angie I basically love any way that Richard looks. The man is simply gorgeous in an asymmetrical way.
I have come to the conclusion that Richard’s eyes are not naturally that piercing blue color because they do not appear to be that way in most of his photographs and even watching him in N&S, VOD and other productions. They did not look piercing blue at all in any of his Comic-Con interviews or photos. It seems to me that Richard’s eyes are actually a paler blue. Richard’s eyes I think are being retouched to appear piercing blue for some photos for affect. Richard could even be wearing colored contact lens. I love his paler colored eyes so no one has to re-shop them for me. If he had brown eyes I would love them just as much.

    • His eyes actually change color. They are basically a light blue with that distinctive limbic ring circling the iris. But in Strike Back, in which he was in desert settings and colors, his eyes often appeared green and even khaki colored. In Spooks, the cool blue lighting/sets coupled with the darker hair (which tends to make eye color “pop”) made them appear more blue. In RH, the Guyliner also brought out the color of his eyes. Yet there are scenes where Guy’s eyes turn a stormy grey. Now, my own eyes, which are light blue, can appear to be green or grey depending on clothing color, cosmetics and lighting . But they have never been tan! ;) Lighting, wardrobe, makeup, all these things play a role as well as any manipulation of photos. To the best of my knowledge, he has never worn tinted contact lenses of any sort. I do have to disagree with the statement that his eyes did not appear piercing in any of the Comic-Con photos. There are some in which they do appear to be so and I don’t believe there was any photo manip taking place in these particular instances. Again, lighting can place an important role.

Regardless of their color, they are beautiful, expressive eyes, well-formed, well-set, lovely thick lashes, bold, expressive brows framing them. Gorgeous!!

      • Yes Angie, I know what you mean. Depending on the lighting, makeup etc, a person’s eyes can look deeper in color or lighter. I have a wide blue circle around my eyes that are blue. My eyes are dark brown with a wide blue band circling them. Sometimes they look pale blue and other times they look a deep ink blue. Once in a blue moon they appear to be light gray.

As far as Richards eyes at Comic-Con I guess we just have different definitions of piercing eyes. In some photos his eyes are a bit more blue but to me they were not piercing. They were simply a little bit bluer to me. No matter what they looked like to anyone he was simply HANDSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • Actually, the definition of “piercing” in relation to eyes (according to Merriam-Webster) is “perceptive.” So a piercing gaze is a perceptive one. By that definition, I would have to say Mr. Armitage always appears to have piercing eyes, no matter the depth or intensity of the hue on that particular day. ;)

  5. This was a great photoshoot, one of my all time favourites! I love what you did with the pictures, Angie. I still can’t believe what my niece said when I showed her one of the original photos, “he looks as if somebody hit him in the eye” (referring to the dark shadow under his left (?) eye).. Just goes to show how differently people perceive things…And it shows that some females are indeed immune to his charms! (Btw my niece is 17 and she likes Ian Somerhalder and Joe Flanigan)

    • I never get tired of those photos. *sigh* Thanks, I had a lot of fun doing these. Even more so than usual, I think. ;) Yes, definitely beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and all eyes don’t see things the same. I had to look up Joe Flanigan. I has seen him before but didn’t recognize the name. Ian I have seen in a couple of things. Attractive, yes, but no RA for me. ;)

      • My sis and niece are big sci-fi fans and Joe Flanigan was in Stargate: Atlantis. :) I’m not into sci-fi at all so I had never heard of the guy either until I saw his pic on my niece’s laptop and asked her who he was. As for Ian Somerhalder, I know I’m supposed to find him attractive and everything, but for me, he is a bit…creepy looking. Sorry I know I shouldn’t say things like this. Apologies to any Somerhalder fans out there. :)

        • Well, I find Stephen Moyer as Bill creepy-looking, and obviously many TB fans would disagree. ;) I have seen some of the Stargate stuff but it was earlier series with Richard Dean “McGyver” Anderson. Speaking of True Blood, Bill has really gone over to the Dark Side, hasn’t he? Don’t know what will happen with Nora, but she at least got to snog Eric again. ;)

          • Yeah, watched ep.9. last night. Eric now seems to be “the only sane vampire in the village” to paraphrase sunny Harry Kennedy. :) Kissing Nora- another neck-breaking exercise for the Viking God!

            • Who’da thunk it? Eric is the good guy vamp right now. At least he doesn’t want to slaughter all the humans ;) Lucy and I are the same height, so I get an idea of what kissing a 6’3″ guy would be like by watching her. ;)

              • Yeah, I believed those two feel a deep attraction to one another (and I remind myself they aren’t ACTUALLY brother and sister) ;)

              • Nora and Eric are pretty hot, but I still prefer him with Sookie. I thought the chemistry between the two of them was fantastic. Or maybe it was just Eric being so vulnerable that got to me. :)

              • There is a lot of chemistry between Eric and Sookie. Who knows what will happen with this war apparently about to break out? I think the current storyline once again shows that Eric is not nearly as evil as he’d like everyone to think he is. He still cares what Godric thinks, he wants to protect Nora . . . now Russell, on the other hand, really IS evil.

              • No no no it was NOT sexy at all. *shudders* They could have shown a little bit more of Eric and Nora making out instead. :) Btw, will there be 13 or 10 eps in this series? Do you know?

              • Yay! Thanks. I’ve finished watching GoT and am having serious withdrawal symptoms (who’d have thought? Me and GoT!) , at least TB fills the void to a certain extent! Though I don’t think this season is anywhere near as good as the last one. I loved amnesiac Eric, what can I say…;)

              • See? I told you GoT could be addictive. :D I think TB was really slow out of the starting gate this season. I was beginning to think poor Lucy was never going to get out of that cell and away from the silver LOL

              • It certainly is addictive! I can’t wait for it to continue! So many characters I’ve come to care about. Jon Snow.. I felt so sorry for the poor guy. Hope he’ll get some “action”going in series 3 with the redhead. :) To hell with the stupid oath. I like the eunuch guy. I adore Tyrian and Arya and wow, I know he could well be my father but I think Charles Dance is sexy as hell as Tywin! And actually, I’ve warmed up to Iain Glen’s character. He’s shown loyalty to Daenerys and he genuinely seems to care for her.

              • I think Maisie Williams, who plays Arya, really holds her own in her scenes with Dance and the other much more seasoned performers. I am hoping that is a character that will stick around through the future seasons. I loved her with Jacquyn (sp?) the mysterious assassin. “A girl should not give a man his own name.” Re sexy Charles, I still adore Sir Sean and he’s definitely old enough to be my dad. ;)

Yes, I really think Jon Snow should forget about his oath now that he’s hanging out with the Wildings. I know he hasn’t had sex because he doesn’t want to take a chance on bringing a bastard into the world, so I suggest they have a wilding marriage ceremony and get on with it. ;) Ian’s character is clearly in love with Dani and he is indeed completely loyal to her through thick and thin.

              • Charles Dance may be 65 but he’s fitter than a lot of men half his age, in fact he and his partner had a baby late last year. :) I was wondering what Tywin would have done with Arya had he found out her true identity… I loved the scene where Arya managed to convince (that’s not the right word, she blackmailed him into it really) Jaqen to help her escape. :) I hope Jon stays with the wildlings and gets to marry the gutsy redhead!

    • He’s just so alluring and mysterious and come-hither in these photos . . . and you see the intelligence in those eyes, too. There’s a lot going on there, brains and beauty and expressiveness. So very thud-worthy.
