I love hats. There’s a reason I am called fedoralady, you know. The above GIF features photos of Richard in that little charcoal cap, the only time I can recall seeing him in headgear outside of a role. Do you have a favorite ChaRActer in a Hat look? (or cap, beret, headscarf . . .) Here are a few examples–

Lovely gif Angie.
My favourite RA’s character with a hat is Mr Thornton.
Yummm..the grey cap plus its beautiful owner – I think this might be my favourite, although Richard rocks all of those looks.
I really like that cap. He can wear headgear so well (thinking of his scarves in SB).
Yes indeedy
You’re up late again. Can’t get to sleep?
Sadly, yes. The humidity is pushing 100 percent so even with the temp in the low 70s it’s still uncomfortable and I am trying to do w/o the air as much as possible to save electricity. I am working on a video. But I do need to try to get some sleep. *sigh*
Sleep would be good. Wishing you happy dreams.
P.S. While I think he makes all those forms of headgear work to maximum effect, I love the cap he’s wearing in the candids. He’s the only man I’ve ever seen who can make that style look cute.
Richard has an uncanny ability to pull off looks and styles that don’t work on the average guy.
Nah – lose the headgear. Detracts too much from the handsome head. However, Quiksilver flat cap cute but JP bush hat ridiculous. I remember Daughter snorting with laughter when she saw him in that.
I am with you. I say lose the headgear Richard. I am not feeling that gray cap on him. I do like him with the top hat in North & South though.
To paraphrase the late Rodney Dangerfield, that bush hat just don’t get no respect.
Yes, it does! From me!!! I think it’s rather cute. And I love the charcoal hat on him though it would look ridiculous on 99.9 % of the male population!
Like Speedos and strange Russian prison tats, Richard wears that cap so well. Although the three of them combined might be a bit–odd. LOL
I am also glad to hear from a bush hat fan. I was feeling rather sad for it.
It becomes cute just from touching that adorable and beautifully shaped head of our RIchard!
Exactly so. He does have a really nicely shaped head. On top of everything he’s got. *sigh*
“Baby, take off your coat, real slow. Baby, take off your shoes. I’ll help you take off your shoes…”
*fans self*
Naughty, Angie, naughty, naughty, naughty.
Thank you …. *giggle*
And what big–shoes he has . . . *clears throat and attempts to look innocent*
LOL!!!
*attempts* being the operative word here?
Big shoes … he’ll need *lots* of help, then.
Let’s just say the man is well—–equipped. *ahem* And we are supposed to be his supporters, right? To help with any needs he might have? *giggle*
You NAUGHTY girl, you!!!
Guilty as charged.
I hated the bush hat in SB practical maybe but I doubt anyone could look good in it. I loved the beret, do you remember the quick glimpse of the photo that they ‘raised a glass to’ in the infamous SB2 after his death, RA’s eyes looked mesmerizing under the beret.
No, the bush hat was not his best look. I think he wears a beret very, very well, however. I have a soft spot for berets, anyway.
I have to say I liked him in the cap although I know some people didn’t and thought he only wore it because he didn’t like himself with the CA haircut! Personally I loved how he looked with that haircut, not when he had it slicked back in the movie but when I saw him on the “Lorraine Show” when it was more floppy and boyish looking. He looked terrific with the top hats of course in N&S as well as the beret and scarves in SB but I didn’t like the Trilby hats in Malice Aforethought.
Yes, opinions on the cap vary considerably but I am one of those who really likes it on him–he can pull it off. However, I didn’t like that trilby either. Now, if you are talking about an Indiana Jones style fedora, that, I think, would look good on him. Think of those manips I’ve done of the character with Guy’s face . . . He was at his boyish best when he did that interview with Myleene. And she, I do think, was a bit flustered by the experience.
So true re Myleene!! Richard indeed made her “all fumbly”!! I have to sympathize a bit though; how many of us could remain cool, calm and collected in his presence?
It didn’t help any when he gave her that look and purred, “Why don’t you come over and find out?” when they were talking about his Lucas tats. That would have unnerved me, even knowing that he was joking, because I would be thinking about actually doing just that LOL
And he dropped his voice about an octave. Mine went up one *squeak*.
And then he went “that’s my chat up line”.. To which a commenter on YT asked “this man needs a chat-up line???”
I think he could just walk in, make eye contact, give a slight tilt to his head and smile that sexy smirk, and women would be offering themselves to him “right here and right now.” And some men, too.
YES to an Indiana Jones style fedora! RA would look great wearing one of those, as we could see from your photo manips!
Wouldn’t mind at all seeing him in a period drama in which he gets to wear that sort of fedora and some really sharp suits. And then take them off, of course.
Richard looks really good in the SB beret and I liked the grey cap on him too, it suits him. My husband has a similar one but it makes him look ten years older when he wears it!
Richard still somehow managed to look boyish even with the cap. Those sweet grins of his.
Loved, loved, loved the beret! Absolutely gorgeous.
I love berets anyway, and Mr. A does wear them so well.
