About fedoralady

I'm an LA native--Lower Alabama, that is. My husband of more than 25 years and I live here in a country home we share with four pets, including a three-legged tuxedo cat with a Hitler mustache. My background is art education, and over the years I've been a teacher, department store photographer, sales associate and a journalist. I love movies, music, art, photography and books, and my tastes are eclectic. It was Richard who was the catalyst for me to pursue fiction writing, first fanfic and now a novel. I also make fanvids and create fanart. RA is my muse and I find him endlessly inspiring.

    • I had seen a very abbreviated report earlier in the day, but I knew she was going to post a more complete report, so I held out for that. Loved all the details she shared. The sign was perfect–definitely NOT a rubbish sign. ;)

  1. We could rent an RV and head on out there together! When do we leave? ;)

Another wonderful encounter. Can he be any sweeter? If any more stories like this crop up, I think I’m going to have a permanent grin affixed to my face. :D

    • I know. As I said in my “letter” to his mom, we are so enjoying all these fan encounters on the film set. And I think they are upping the ante with the signs, too! What will they come up with next, I wonder?

  2. Just when I think an encounter with Richard couldn’t be more wonderful we read this. How amazing is this guy? So kind and gracious to those who are fortunate to meet him. Nothing seems too much trouble to him and I have an idea that he appreciates the effort people have gone to to search him out on these sets. He willingly gives of his time to chat and have his picture taken with them. Such a hilarious commentary too. When I was reading it I felt like running around crazily like the giraffe and the ostrich! :D Then I read about him going to the restaurant in Windsor and before I could stop myself I yelled, “HE WAS IN CANADA”!!!!!! *swoon* So thanks a million Angie for sharing this with us, otherwise many of us may have missed it and those fantastic pictures! :)

    • Yeah, I thought that would make the Canadians happy. ;) It’s great he got to visit friends in NYC over the weekend, too. He really does seem to be taking to it all like a duck to water, doesn’t he?

There are pluses to being on Twitter. That’s where I first ran across this. I know many people had seen it already, but never assume everyone has!

  3. I am intrigued that Richard has friends in NYC and was there over the weekend. I was always under the impression that Richard doesn’t know a single person in America. I have never been to London but from what I hear NYC is its equivalent so Richard probably feels very comfortable there. Richard was only 3 hours away from me and that gives me goose bumps.

The sign was very well done. I find it very interesting that it’s MARRIED women making these bold moves to meet Richard.

    • He was in the States a few years ago, so it’s possible he made some acquaintances then. Also, we know some of the actors he has worked with in the past are now working on productions here in the states, so that is another possibility. The acting community in some ways is a small world.

Somehow we married ladies seem more willing to throw caution to the wind LOL I think she might have made that cool sign using the same template I did for my Keep Richarding and Team Leather sign. There is a downloadable PDF available on the Photofunia site for it.

      • I did not realize that Richard was in the States before Captain America’s premier. I have to keep in mind that I am still new to this since I found out about RA only 8 months ago. It is not as if he didn’t have an active life before 2012.

When you mentioned actors that Richard has worked with in the past are now here working on productions I was reminded of Lucy Griffith who has been trying to break into American cinema since she left RH. I was thinking that Hollywood directors would be happy to snap Lucy up. She did a really great job playing Marion and she is very pretty but so far she hasn’t made the big splash yet. I know that Lucy is playing a vampire in True Blood. The series sounds kind of sick though. Lucy plays the sister of a vampire but the two of them have sex. What is the world coming to?

        • I should point out they are not actually brother and sister, Eric and Nora (Lucy’s character) were turned into vampires by the same “maker.”

Lucy did ink a contract with CBS television for some pilots–I think this was maybe a year, year-and-a-half ago–and filmed at least one pilot for a series but the network did not pick up the option for it. She would have been a zombie in that one, as I recall. ;) It’s a tough business, what can I say?

        • He has been in the US several times, with the RSC and for various auditions that never led to anything. He also mentioned visiting friends in NY before.

          • What is the RSC? I bet it was the accent that prevented Richard from getting those earlier parts that he auditioned for in the past. Our man must have been determined to get it right this nice around.

I am VERY happy that Richard has friends in New York. :-)

            • The Royal Shakespeare Company. He had a small part in Macbeth and they went on a world(?) tour. At least he has been to the US and Japan with them. Wearing a beard and looking very fetching. That must have been around 2000.

              • Thanks, Jane, for clarifying that. I didn’t sleep at all last night–I guess just too wound up–and I had momentarily forgotten about that RSC tour. I fondly recall that B&W photo from the Japanese magazine of RA smouldering away with that neat little beard he wore for the role of Angus. ;)

      • Almost… The 20th August IS a National Holiday! He should have hurried up a little bit! Then, had he been born on the 20th I could pretend the great fireworks on the evening of the 20th are for HIM and not to commemorate the foundation of the Hungarian State. LOL!

  4. It doesn’t appear as though he has said no yet to meeting a fan, does it? This beautiful man is proving to be every bit as gracious and thoughtful as we believe him to be.

    • If he had said no, I think we would have heard about it. He really does seem to be enjoying it, too, judging by the photos we’ve seen. This does not look like a man who hates interacting with fans. And he’s the one initiating the hugs and handshakes and photos quite often, too. Some people who consider themselves to be such experts of Richard Armitage are full of — well, they are full of you-know-what. I am loving this not only because it’s such a wonderful experience for all these fans, but it so flies in the face of what some would have you believe about RA. *sticking out tongue*

      • I’m sure there will occasions when he will have to say no though, in the not-too-distant future…I’m hoping people will be understanding and abide the “right time and place to approach him” rule.

        • I also hope people will remember how approachable he was when it was still possible and will keep in mind that it is just because circumstance have changed.

        • I agree. It is easier for Richard to be so accomondating right now since he is still mostly unknown in America. One or two people showing up with a sign is one thing but hordes of fans is something else.

If the director of Black Sky is smart he will release that movie not too long after The Hobbit. I am actually more excited about seeing Black Sky than The Hobbit because Richard’s fine features and body will not be covered up.

          • I think that as long as he can be accommodating to fans, he will be. But obviously, that is going to change to some degree, almost certainly by a large degree after The Hobbit premieres. I am sure the Black Sky people are looking at prime target dates for the release of the film, banking on their star’s bankability increasing greatly once TH has hit screens worldwide. I suspect that once people see Thorin on screen and what Richard has done with the character, they will want to see more of this actor, and without all the hair, prosthetics and costume.

            • i agree. The world is going to want to see a lot more of him, I’m sure. And he will have to make some changes, but I doubt he’ll resort to the whole bodyguards-&-security thing that some Hollywood types practice. Actually, I hope he maintains his privacy such that the paparazzi find him too damn boring to bother.

              • Thankfully the paps seem to hang out around the more sensationalist celebs for the most part, at least here in the US. The ones with well-publicized love affairs, public displays of temper and so on, the sort of stuff that makes good fodder for the tabloids. I can’t really see him doing the retinue of big, beefy bodyguards either.

  5. I tried to find out what type of restaurant Cook’s is in Windsor Ontario but couldn’t find a thing about it online. Has anyone else tried looking? I am just curious about what type of food our man goes for when he eats out. I know it sounds silly but I still want to know.

  6. I wonder when was the last time Richard had a home cooked meal. He has been in New Zealand for 18 months and now in Detroit. I enjoy eating out but I don’t like it that much. Cobwebs must be forming in his kitchen in London.

      • It does sound like a great place to eat, doesn’t it! Am I right in thinking that Richard once said he liked Italian food? With the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel the “crossing” takes only a few minutes as I understand the tunnel itself is only about a mile long! I wonder how many times he will pop over the border? :D
