Thorin for Thursday . . . now HE’S a bit jealous of this affable Oklahoma school teacher with no name who seems to be stealing his thunder. Bad enough I have to deal with stroppy Guy. *sigh* Gee, these alpha males . . . they need to learn from the CReAtor and take a chill pill.

How I love the personalities you’ve given our gorgeous SND fellas!
Hmm.. wonder if Frenz can get Todd Garner to tell us the 1st name of the affable teacher? That is, providing she gets to speak to the man himself. I hope she does – it would be amazing if we could learn just why Richard was cast in this film, no?
I am wondering the same thing. I know why we think Richard is the perfect choice, but I would like to know why the director and producers chose him to star in this movie.
Well, maybe we will get to find out soon.
Oh, please not John…
I think he told one of the ladies visiting at the set it was not John, although he didn’t say what it actually would be.
Thank God it’s not John!
I mean really. No offense to the name John, but enough is enough. Especially after how the last one turned out.
Amen.
They are quite a handful at times, those SNDs.
Clearly, you’re having a lot of fun with Thorin. Yeah, those alpha males may get all growly, but they sure are a treat to watch.
Oh, I do love it when they do their growling!
And their purring.
Purring — I wonder if they like their tummies petted, maybe some tender scratching behind their ears, other forms of social grooming.
I can tell you that they do indeed enjoy such attentions. Thorin is quite the pussycat behind closed doors, BTW.
Errr… Social grooming??? Sounds… interesting!
All primates (and some other mammmals) do it, one way or another. Most primates go over one another’s bodies, removing tangles, dirt, and even bugs from each other’s bodies. They use their fingers and their tongues mostly. Humans often do this by combing or brushing each other’s hair, shampooing or washing each other, cleaning ears, trimming nails, shaving or depilating one another, usually in close familial or intimate relationships. (Humans are the only ones who sometimes pay for such services.) We sometimes extend this to pets.
I used to love how Puddie and Thumper would sometimes groom each other. Our late cat Mary Ann, who loved me but adored her daddy, used to lick Benny’s head on a regular basis. It seemed she was trying to groom him. One of my dogs does something odd. He takes one of our wrists in his mouth. He doesn’t bite. It’s a very friendly gesture. I think he might be laying claim to us.
Both cats and dogs do this. It means, “I love you THIS much.” It seems to be something that they only do with humans, akin to a “play” bite but with more meaning behind it.
I find it very endearing. Rascal looks up at you with those big caramel brown eyes, wagging that tail and holding your wrist and I just have to smile.
My much-beloved cat used to do it, just holding me with his mouth and looking at me with his beautiful blue eyes. He could make even the cruddiest day better in that moment.
It’s a wonderful feeling. Because you know it’s an unconditional love, too. My weird kitty has lurched over here on the edge of the bed and I hope she doesn’t fall off. Unlike Weebles, Thumper wobbles and she DOES fall down.
That’s it, isn’t it — unconditional love. You may have to put a cushion beside the bed so she has something soft to land on when you’re not fast enough to catch her. Toward the end of his life, I got a set of soft bed steps for my cat, so he could come up and get down when he could no longer make the jump, but I’m not sure they would work for your furry bowling ball…
I just put a pillow down just in case, although she has now moved back to the center of the bed and is busy cleaning herself. Furry bowling ball is right. She does amaze me at times with the places she manages to climb up to. She’s got moxie, that one.
Yes, I’m reminded of that scene from Out of Africa where Robert Redford washes Meryl Streep’s hair.. A very sensuous scene! I think Angie mentioned it in a post some months ago!
See, some of our animal instincts are quite delightful.
I agree.
Indeed they are!
Oh Angie you make me laugh. Growling & purring indeed. Bring it on lol
