Thorin Thursday: Autumn Dreams

Standard

I don’t know if Thorin is dreaming of autumn, but I am. Truthfully, I have a love-hate relationship with the spring and fall. I love the balmy breezes and new life springing up in the former, the crispness in the air and crunch of leaves in the latter. Unfortunately my allergies aren’t as impressed.  Ah well, c’est la vie!

Still, I am ready for a change of seasons . . . how about you? Are you folks down under ready to say goodbye to winter and hello to spring?

  1. OH, I’m ready for Spring alright – this winter has been very cold. My daughter-in-law said this afternoon that it’s going to be -5 overnight!!! And, unfortunately, it looks like it might rain tomorrow (1 Sep) – the official start of Spring.

I think I’m heading to bed earlier than usual tonight to snuggle under the doona!

Ah, well…. maybe on Sunday or Monday, we’ll have Spring??

  2. I love those Thorin pictures! I’m ready for a change, too. I know I’ll suffer from my fall allergies but I’m getting sick of 90+ degrees!

  3. Autumn colours really suit Thorin… I’m ready for autumn too, it’s been such a hot summer, 87 degrees today! Luckily the forecast says it’s going to cool down significantly come Monday, I hope they’re right…

    • I hope so, too. Having to deal with that kind of heat just saps your energy. Andalucia has been on the high side of 37 degrees C (98.6 degrees F, normal human temp.) for weeks now and it’s getting old. Some nasty wildfires near Marbella…

        • It’s been very dry here too which is bad for my allergies as due to the dry weather the pollen counts are very high… Packing didn’t help either as I’m allergic to house dust..Ah well. Sorry shouldn’t be complaining..

  4. He looks so beautiful in these colours! They seem to enhance the colour of his hair. :)

Can’t say I’m ready for Fall yet, even though today is considered the last day of summer. We didn’t have it as hot this year as we have in the past even though we’ve had a pretty good summer on the whole. Warm and sunny today – the beginning of the last long weekend before schools go back and it is supposed to stay like this well into next week! Love it!

      • I think so, too. Richard has been made up with his hair darkened so that Lucas, Guy, and Thornton all look like “winter”s wearing the black, blue, and burgundy, but his natural colouring appears to be more “autumn”.

        • I can actually wear orange–well, I don’t look as good as HE does, of course ;) –and I am a spring with a touch of autumn. I love a lot of the browns-caramels, camels– forest green and russet tones we associate with autumn. Clear colors are best rather than dusty hues.

          • Even with his darkened hair hints of auburn can be seen as was evident in SB. Maybe that is why he looked so terrific in his John Porter togs! :)

I always wanted dark auburn hair but instead had really dark brown and colouring one’s hair when I was young wasn’t that common. I was born too soon I think! I’m a “winter” though, which seems to work with my non-dyed “silver” that I seem to gradually have acquired!! :D

  5. First day of spring here and I woke to beautiful blue sky and sunshine. It’s cold still, but the biting wind of the past few days has dropped right off and it’s supposed to be warming up over the next few days. I love the change in seasons. After a cold wet winter, I’m ready for the sun and some warmth again, but I know that when autumn comes around, I’ll be glad to see the last of the heat too.

    • Now if I could only figure out a way to spend my summers here and then move to Australia and/or NZ to enjoy summer there!! Christmas in the warm sun! Now that would be really something! :)
