I believe it was Servetus who said that next to John Porter, Guy was probably the chaRActer who would exude the most heat (that was before Thorin, so it might be a tight race). Guy–hot-tempered, hot-blooded, a man of raw animal sexuality and drop-dead gorgeousness. Yep, he’s a hottie in every way.

It’s in there somewhere and he pulls it out in an unbelievable way. You do realize what a truly good actor RA is when you see him in interviews and behind the scenes. He’s so sweet, laid-back and sometimes a bit geeky. And then he can turn on this domineering alpha male volatility onscreen and it simply blows you away!
Exactly!:) IMHO, Guy is exciting (absurdly sexy) and amusing (grotesquely fanny)simultanously.
Oh, yes. Guy is really hilarious to watch at times. His reactions to what is going on around him–the facial expressions, the body language–are so much fun. Richard said that he tried to play it all straight rather than purposefully going for the laughs, and it worked!
Did it ever work! And all that contained smouldering, all that raw passion inside, all the *rowrrr* — all generate impossible heat, at the same time that some situations make us laugh.
Oh yes, all the desire and hunger rippling just beneath the surface . . . he really does smoulder better than anyone else I have seen on screen. He made Guy irresistibly sexy and also lovable and vulnerable and funny, too. Guy triggers my libido and tugs at my heartstrings all at the same time. How can I not love him?

Actually, I think comedy can be very tricky to pull off successfully. You don’t see many Academy Awards go to comedic performances and yet they take lots of talent and skill, too. And yeah, you are right about those macho men.
