My calendar arrived today!!

Thumper the three-legged tuxedo cat seems to enjoy looking at Thorin on the front of the calendar. She has the Good Taste Gene.
It’s printed on a good-quality heavyweight stock with the edges of the pages given an attractive distressed look, as one might find on an old manuscript.
The inside cover of the calendar is a map of the Lonely Mountain and its surroundings and the first page features September-December 2012–so you really can use it to count down to the premiere. Bilbo is Mr. January, and this handsome bloke is Mr. February . . . what with Valentine’s Day, Mr. Dreamboat is certainly a perfect choice.
The rest of the calendar art is devoted to Fili and Kili (March); a gorgeous portrait of Galadriel (April); Ori, Dori and Nori (May); Bombur and Bofur (June); Elrond (July); Balin and Dwalin (August); Gandalf (September); a charming portrait of Radagast (October); Bifur, Oin and Gloin (November) and Legolas (December). Some of the art we’ve seen before and some is new (to me, anyway).
Here’s a shot of the back cover with miniatures of all the interior art. There’s also an offer for a free calendar widget and downloadable wallpaper (that’s it on the upper right).
So–is it December yet?? Hmmm, let me check my calendar . . . tomorrow, my action figure should arrive.

It just might be February for me all year!
I can understand that sentiment.
Me, too. Love the picture with Thumper appreciating Thorin. She does have the Good Taste Gene, but so do many cats, I expect. I’m sure she would love to get her paws on all that hair.
Thumper is just being too, too adorable of late. It seems as if she has been loved into being in her own way, as if she feels somehow free of so many of the fears and inhibitions she once had. It’s rather amazing and sweet and funny all at once. Speaking of which, she’s just rappelled back up here. She seems—happy.
I told her Miss Leigh says hello.
Thank you — please add an ear scritch and a belly rub to my greeting. So adorable, like Guy when he’s finally free of all the insecurities and threats (real or imagined). Love does set you free.
I did both and she enjoyed it very much.
Yes, love has amazing power, indeed.
My calendar arrived Tuesday, too! And I got all giggly when I saw February. (I know, right, me, giggly?) I have a special reason for loving that Thorin is Feburary’s centerfold!!!
Thank you, oh makers of the calendar. *giggle*
I think I sat there stroking certain pages. Yeah, that one in particular. So February has a special meaning for you, does it??
I’ve only gotten the Annual and the calendar so far but I am really impressed with the quality of what we are seeing re tie-in merchandise. I think the other books are going to be terrific. Can’t wait to get little Thorin later today! I might have to see if he and Thumper will pose together.
I love, l love, I love my Calendar Dwarf, every single day of the year!!!!!
Except that “centerfolds” are usually photographed with significantly less clothing…
Quite true. But my imagination runs rampant! LOL
Yeah, so does mine, dear girl.
Mine has also arrived today !!!
Yeay!!! I will report in on Little Thorin later.
The calender looks great. I was thinking of getting one when I saw them on Amazon. I also need to get a Dr. Who one to for the boys. Now where would I put it? Somewhere for a the company to see, yes I should think so. Mr February now that is a great month, but some how I was hoping for August. That is one great month for us August birthday people.
It’s a nice calendar and it’s reasonable. I just ordered a birthday DVD for Benny of “Doctor Who” from back in the Tom Baker era when he watched it as a teen on cable. Thought it might be nostalgic fun. Tom’s always been THE doctor for Benny. He’s been watching the new Who with me of late. August IS a great month–my sister and oldest niece were both born in August.
Our doctor in our house is David Tennant . Matt Smith is O.K. but DT will always be the doctor. Our PBS station has has series six on and we are watching it without the commecials which is great.
I guess everyone has a favorite.
I never saw Dr. Who when I was younger, although I was aware it was a popular long-running British cult favorite. I started watching in the Tennant era, and he was great. I have always liked him as an actor, anyway. I have to admit Matt has grown on me. I really wasn’t too sure in the beginning. Thought he was downright odd-looking. But he’s got a certain quality that has come to appeal to me, and I liked Amy and Rory.
I wish our PBS ran a greater variety of stuff from Britain. They have never gotten beyond season four or five of Spooks, so no Richard.
Of course, I have everything on DVD (except Spooks 9, which I refuse to buy and have on my computer HD anyway) but I would love to be able to flip on my television and discover RA.
If it weren’t for BBCA, I still probably wouldn’t really know who he was, so in spite of the darned pesky commercials, I have to give them props for that. NOW if they would run more than endless eps of Top Gear and Kitchen Nightmares. Nothing against Gordon or the Top Gear boys, but there is other programming they could share with us.
I did see a couple of Dr.Who’s during the Peter Davidson years while staying at a friends house in the 80′s, but did not get into it then. My first british show I ever saw was the Benny Hill Show. I would spend the night at my grandparents house and after the 10:00 p.m. Saturday night news I could watch T.V. with the volume down, and since they only got one channel most of the time that was all there was to watch. Most people where mostly watching Saturday Night Live, but not me. I was getting hooked on British telly. In the early 90′s on A and E they had Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett (he is my Holmes of the 1800′s) and Lovejoy, we would go to my inlaws to watch and I would make dessert and MIL would make the tea. Finally in 1997 we got a T.V. and the only channel we got was PBS, ours had a good Saturday night line up and got even more hooked. Now to add BBCA to my watching line up also. I also had to buy Spooks 7-10 on DVD too.
Until I was five, we only had two channels–NBC and the local PBS affiliate–on a black and white portable TV with rabbit ears. Then we got a big color console and an outdoor antenna and we moved up to FOUR channels–well, when the weather was good and the ABC affiliate wasn’t coming in too snowy. I used to watch Masterpiece Theatre every Sunday night from the age of 10 or so. I remember the Six Wives of Henry VIII and Upstairs, Downstairs fondly, along with Poldark. Later I watched all the Agatha Christie productions and I LOVED Jeremy Brett as Sherlock. I remember when A&E and Bravo ran programs outside of reality shows. *sigh* Now we have satellite and a jillion channels and I often find myself watching Turner Classic Movies, because I love the oldies and ones you really can’t see anywhere else.
O.K. tonight WordPress is being weird. I just typed more to add to the top and it’s gone. So lets try it again. Our PBS station only got thru Spooks 6, then they started back at 1 and took it off the air last September. At the end of 6 I was not ready for 7 because I knew Adam Carter died ( I also like Rupert Penry Jones too) I just did not know if I would like Lucas North, then along came Guy. They also aired Robin Hood 1 and 2 but not 3. So last years Christmas DVD’s I got the complete Robin Hood and Spooks 7 and 8. My husband asked after 8 if I had any more and I told him no, he told me to get the rest. So I waited till 10 was out and got the last two. We have seen every one of the Spooks show but one, series 5 called Syria where Fiona dies(we where out of town and did not get home in time). While waiting on Spooks 7 to air(still waiting) I kind fell for a guy named Guy. I had seen Richard before that but in Miss Marple, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries and Ordeal by Innocence in 2006 and 2007. But that guy just did for me. I did like Lucas North too. Got to see Richard in George Gently last Friday night(our PBS has George Gently on Friday nights now) I did like him in that plaid shirt and the leather. My boys and I like Top Gear and Kitchen Nightmares too. I see David Tennant is to be on a new show on BBCA soon, it looks good and son 2 can’t wait.
WordPress frequently gets weird, just bear with it.
I can totally understand falling for Guy. He was my introduction to RA as an actor and he will always remain my most beloved character, although I find something to like about every one of them, even the baddies (I don’t really consider Guy to be a bad guy LOL). He rocks those looks as Ricky Deeming. A plaid shirt with the sleeves rolled up has never looked better on a man–or leather, for that matter. Leather was made for RA or he was made for leather. Yes, I am looking forward to David’s show coming up in January on BBCA.
