Totally yummy!! Always enjoy glimpsing the TOC and lads striding down the castle corridors!
I’m doing a little bit of a happy dance as some items I ordered from the UK arrived today! First and foremost, The Siege and The Witchfinders audio books from Robin Hood read by The Gorgeous Leather-clad one!! The others are not really “Guyday” items but I now have the complete series five of Cold Feet with flirty girty Lee and Series 3 of Miss Marple with Philip Durrant!! I’m sure lots of you have probably had all of these for ages but I’m collecting them all bit by bit as I can’t afford to buy them all at once. I do have to curtail my spending at times! So guess what I’ll be doing tonight? You can’t guess? Well I think it will have to be Guy-related so I’ll do a bit of knitting and listen to the audiobooks. Who wouldn’t want to hear THAT voice in close proximity! Maybe I’ll just quit knitting, sit back and imagine he is in the room with me. *sigh*
He gives you a lop-sided smile and tilts his dark head, flicking back that tousled raven mane. “My dearest Lady Teuchter, what do you mean, ‘Imagine?’ I am right here in this chamber with you. And I’m not planning to go anywhere soon . . .” The dark knight purrs his words in that deep, rich chocolate voice, his kohl-rimmed azure eyes glinting with humor and something more . . .
Darling Teuchter, enjoy all your goodies as I know you will. I liked the series Cold Feet anyway, and you’ll get some Hermione Norris and James Nesbitt in the bargain! And Richard reading the RH stories–well, what can I say? Superb, as always. And amazing at doing those voices. Thumper and I doing our own little happy dance with you!! And it’s not easy for a three-legged cat to dance, either, let me tell you. I think Little Thorin is assisting her.
Well dearest Guy certainly worked his magic!! *swoon* Not going to admit to a thing but lets just say I didn’t knit one single stitch! How could I with him around – he really is distracting to say the least.
In truth I ended up listening to The Witchfinders and as usual Richard was brilliant. How he can possibly say he isn’t good at voicing all these characters? I liked the short interview at the end, especially when he giggles. I now have all six of the Robin Hood audio books, plus Venetia, Sylvester, The Convenient Marriage and of course Lords of the North. Keeping this guy around is getting expensive and likely to get even more so as more and more Hobbit stuff is released. Don’t you just love it though??
Knitting can wait. Sir Guy, however, tends to be impatient. Yes, I love the bonus of listening to his interviews. I am guessing he has very high standards for himself, but honestly, I have never heard anyone do a better job in terms of narration. He has such a gift for storytelling and for really inhabiting the characters in the stories as he does in his screen performances.
When I think about Richard reading stories, I am amazed and delighted by what he does, always greedy for more. As you say, he really inhabits those characters, giving them each a distinctive persona. If HE read “The Sunne in Splendour”, there’d be no confusion about the characters with similar names, etc.
I’m happy for you Teuchter but feeling rather sorry for myself, as I have never received my order from AudioGo which included LoTN, Witchfinders and The Siege. I placed the order and paid for it on the 6th September. I’ve just sent them an email asking for my money back. I don’t think I’ll ever order anything from AudioGo again. I went for the “free shipping” option, and maybe that was a mistake! But then why was the option offered when I completed the order? Also, in the email confirmation they informed me that I’d be sent a “tracking number” for the order, but I never received it either! I order stuff from Amazon UK all the time and nothing has ever got lost!! So unless I can buy those audiobooks when I’m in London, I’ll have to through life without listening to Lords of the North, The Siege and Witchfinders. Guess I’ll have to do some research into whether those books are sold by any of the big retailers, HMV or VIrgin or WH SMith..
I’m so sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with AudioGo, Judit. I ordered my LoTN through them and had no difficulty whatsoever. It would be sad if you never got to listen to it as it’s really fantastic.
I find that when ordering things from either Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk I can’t use the “free shipping” option because I’m in Canada. I initially ordered The Siege and The Witchfinders through Amazon.ca but they have never been able to get them for me which I find strange. I’m thinking of ordering duplicates of Spooks 7 & 8 from Amazon UK (not sure about S9) as the price is good right now! I sometimes lend out the ones I have and then I get worried in case anything should happen to them!! I might even have to buy another copy of The Impressionists too as a friend has had mine for months and hasn’t even watched it yet. Who knows when I’ll get it back. She is unaware of my RAddiction so I don’t want to push it.
So I’ll probably be able to get Witchfinders and The Siege from Amazon UK (they have never failed me!), but isn’t Lords of the North distributed exclusively by AudioGo?I don’t think it’s available from Amazon. I’ll have to look into that.
My understanding is that LOTN is exclusively available now through AudioGo. I checked Amazon Marketplace and there is one copy on the US site but it’s $75 plus $3.99. None on the UK site. You might try eBay.
Hopefully being offered from in the UK means it might show up on Judit’s eBay site.
I hope so!
Did you notice that it isn’t Richard who is reading the one pictured there but Jamie Glover? He stars in Law and Order UK and while I enjoy his acting okay his voice certainly is nothing like Richards!! Buyer beware!
Ooooh. That’s right, he’s the one who played old Monet, too. It was his version available at Amazon but they do have that one copy in the marketplace that is definitely Richard.
Sorry Angie but that was JULIAN Glover who was old Monet. I was wrong too as the guy I was referring to is actually Jamie BAMBER!! LOL!! Jamie Glover is the SON of Julian Glover! Where are my brains today?????
Oh, yeah, Jamie Bamber. Also on Battlestar Galactica. My brains are lacking in proper rest at present. LOL
No I didn’t notice Teuchter, I let my enthusiasm get in the way of checking properly! No wonder the price was reasonable. Richard’s narration would seem to be more valuable and deservedly so!!
Try getting your hands on a Little Guy figure. That one I was bidding on ended up selling for more than $70 plus another $5-$6 for shipping. As much as I would like one, considering I only paid $17 and no shipping for Thorin—I just couldn’t. Anyway, I am on a watch list at eBay. Better luck later, maybe.
Wooow… that’s very expensive. I think because it’s a rare item, especially a new one.
You can fin used one but in good condition, not expensive, here on Ebay :
See my post on Guess Who’s coming to my house?? Thanks, April!!
Oh, you’ve got one ??? Great !!!
Yes, thanks to your heads up.
You’re welcome Angie.
Thanks Mezz, so very sweet of you to look this up for me!!!Thank you ever so much! I’m really touched! And Teuchter, Angie thanks for your concern too! Good news, guys- I’ve got a note from the postman that my parcel arrived today!!! (I have to go to the Post Office to collect it tomorrow as it was too big to fit in my tiny postbox!) I’d all but given up on it. Oh me of little faith!
Great news!! I just know you’ll love LoTN, Judit.
Oh, that is great, Judit!! I am so happy for you.
That’s great news Judit! I must admit I was starting to think of a way to get the audiobook to you. Oh, you are in for a real treat with Uhtred. I’m currently listening to LOTN for about the seventh time, with as much pleasure as I did the first. To quote Hermione Norris, Richard is just sublime. Let us know what you think!
Thanks guys! Thank you for the thought, Mezz, I really appreciate it!
I am sorry to hear your order never made it. I hope something turns up so you will be able to get them. (((hugs)))
Quitting while I’m ahead too! Better get to bed as it’s after 11 here. BTW – forgot to mention that I also ordered Miss Marie Lloyd and it is apparently “in transit” – from Germany!!? Sweet dreams everyone.
Ah, Percy! My favorite scene is when he’s shaving. He looks like an angel there, in spite of the wonky hair. I am watching a truly terrible movie but it’s sort of in the so bad it’s good genre so will watch rest of it. Still got more than half-hour to go.
Totally yummy!! Always enjoy glimpsing the TOC and lads striding down the castle corridors!

Thanks for dancing with me Mezz!! That was fun!
Oh, yes, *happy dance* for you. You do have a lovely evening coming, and many more.

Tes, he would give a unique twist that would allow the listener to delineate each character in his/her mind.

Judit, here’s a brand new one on eBay in the UK for what seems to be a very good price and free postage. This is on the Aussie site but at least they’re available out there!

That TOC of his….mmmmmm is exactly what I ‘m thinking!
The TOC is simply delicious. “Mmmmmmm” was the first thought that came into my head, along with a big, silly smile on my face.
Maybe we’ll have to start calling it the Tongue of Temptation.
The Entire Body of Temptation is more like it. EBT, anyone??
Yes please!! *thud*
Hubba-hubba! LOL
If there ever was a “Body” guaranteed to set our pulses racing it’s his for sure!
Nobody’s body is more bodacious, beautiful and—bootylicious.
Our TDHBEW’s EBT has hundreds of VSA’s!! Okay…I’ll stop there.
Quitting while I’m ahead too! Better get to bed as it’s after 11 here. BTW – forgot to mention that I also ordered Miss Marie Lloyd and it is apparently “in transit” – from Germany!!? Sweet dreams everyone.

Me, too, please!
*sigh* I love Guyday Friday and “I’m not being funny” (I love it when Allan says that)
I love that line, too. Allan is my favorite outlaw and he’s SO Not Dead, too, BTW.
It’s already Guyday Friday here. Happy Guyday, everyone!
It’s Guyday Friday Time, it’s Guyday Friday Time!!
Hmmmm, I love Guy Day… <3
I wish you all a very nice week-end.
Mmmmmm–mmmmm–mmmmmm.
Have a wonderful weekend, dear April.
