Gratuitous because I woke up this morning feeling like I’d been worked over with a Louisville Slugger. Very little sleep, lots of tossing and turning and pummeling of pillows. Of course, if I had done a Lucas North and stretched out on the floor, that’s very likely where I would still be. Then again, if I was on the floor with Lucas—oh, never mind. I’m in pain. You must overlook me.
Suffice it to say I need a little something to brighten things up. Guy. Sexy, swaggering, smouldering, beautiful Sir Guy. *thud* Enjoy the GIFs and fanart.

Σας ευχαριστώ πολύ! I know that Richard has said that he would really like NOT to do the shirtless scenes…but puh-leeeese won’t he throw us a bone and give us just ONE more. (with Guylocks preferably
) My biggest gripe of S3 was no topless Glamour Guy!
I fully understand where he is coming from–I know he doesn’t want to be seen as mere beefcake, and he is certainly far more than just a very handsome face and Adonis-like body. BUT—it’s hard not to yearn to see more of all that masculine beauty. *sigh*
And I was so disappointed we only got that brief (and dimly lit) scene of topless Guy being waken from his nightmare by PJ’s guards. And then what did they do but stick a shirt on him before he saw the prince!! Although I did take note of those washboard abs before they dragged him off . . .
Nope, we got shirtless Little John and Much instead. And ROBIN. Ewwwwwwwww.
I forgot about that one…like the guards would take the time to grab him a shirt before they dragged him in front of PJ… A little manscaping was definitely in order for the rest of the gang! I do understand his misgivings about it…that and sheer amount of discipline it has to take to maintain that level of “cut” (especially after 40). Genetics certainly do provide, but he must work out like a fiend to stay that kind of shape! Perfectionist that he is, I don’t see him letting it go if there is a prospect of shirtless.
I have thought about that, too. He’s not 25 anymore, and although he’s got some incredible genes, he’s also said he loves to eat. My hubby is almost 53 and he used to have trouble gaining weight. I remember when he was only 145 lbs. and six feet tall.
Now he’s finding it a little too easy We won’t even get started talking about his wife.
. Richard is soooo disciplined and I know he worked out like crazy preparing for Strike Back (and boy, did I appreciate all his efforts!!). I agree, as long as there is the prospect of shirtlessness onscreen, he’s not going to let his body go too “soft.” But I do look forward for his sake to the day when he can slake off a little and enjoy his pizza and beer.
It is a dilemma isn’t it…wanting him live his life, but also, well, you know
There was some interview I read where he was quoted saying of his own SB body, “that body’s not nearly hard enough” or something like that. That’s part of the beauty of his bod though…he looks amazingly fit, but not like an obsessive gym rat (sorry gym rats). The Richard III project would be great fit…little chance of shirtless there I’d imagine
Yeah, it’s a dilemma I constantly face. I like him so much as person–as this friend I have never met–that I want him to simply be able to enjoy life. And then there’s that whole sex god thing . . . mmmmmm. Yeah, he wasn’t satisfied with how he looked as Porter, but I thought he got it right–I don’t see Porter as the gym rat type, either, oiling himself up and flexing his muscles in a narcissistic way. I think he’d laugh at that kind of guy.
He continued to maintain his body even after leaving the military in that ever-present hope to right the wrongs and get his life back. An SAS soldier has to stay strong and ready for whatever may come his way and Porter’s physique reflected that. And oh, my, he was devastatingly sexy . . .
I have never been attracted to the thick-necked bodybuilder type of guy anyway. Give me a long, lean thoroughbred like Mr. A. And wasn’t he just born to play a king?? Even with his shortened stature as Thorin, he still looks every inch the regal prince and uncrowned king.
Expendables…*shudder*. Not my kind of stuff, I’m afraid. It’s kind of sad when guys in their 50s try too hard…
50s? Try 66 for Sly Stallone and 60 for Mickey “I’ve Had Plastic Surgery and It Shows” Rourke. Dolph is only in his mid-50s but he looked pretty rough. He is only three years older than I am. He looks older than my oldest sister and she’s got a decade on me. I can’t remember the names of some of the other actors, but they had been around for a while. Jason Statham was the youngest, I am sure, and he’s 45. And I agree, dying your hair jet black and taking steroids to build muscles just doesn’t make you younger, makes you a bit desperate.
Amen, Obscura. I know what he means about “not nearly hard enough” because it’s different when you really have to take a punch in the gut and have it bounce off, when you really have to take on armed opponents and win, no choreography. I hope he never ever has to be that hard. I love the look of his body — fit, but not obsessive; lived in, yet graceful. I agree, Richard III would be a great fit, but shirtless? That all depends on the scriptwriter and the director, doesn’t it? I don’t see Richard III taking his wife to bed fully dressed…
I’m not interested in bouncing coins off his belly (or punches), so “not nearly hard enough” is FINE by me
In the interest of prurience I’m all for RIII au naturale. However in order that RA could enjoy pasta without infinite crunches, I’d make due with a “bedgown” of some sort – provided there were some flagrante kissing scenes…I’m not a complete martyr!
Hmmmmm. Much cupping of face and stroking tenderly with those thumbs Servetus so loves . . . fervent, passionate kisses as only Armitage in Ardent Lover Mode (ALM) can do. Ahhhhhhhhhh . . .
Forgive me if I wasn’t clear. I was once married to someone who did need to be that tough, so I know the look of an overtrained male body. And I expressed the hope that Richard would never have to go there. He’s just fine with me as he is.
I made the mistake of watching The Expendables with Benny (more violence in the first 15 minutes than in the entirety of Strike Back) and I am convinced there was some use of enhancement drugs to put those massive muscles on men of their age. It was freakish, frankly. Not to mention some regrettable plastic surgery, although Dolph looked too ravaged to have had anything like that done, I think.
Of course, for the most part, these are not men known for their great acting ability, so they are trying to hang on to the muscles and macho image of their action characters. Richard is much too talented and versatile to ever need to resort to that—hurrah!
Cut that out…I have to get in the car and drive, and the visuals you are inspiring are going to cause an accident!
Hope you are feeling better soon!
Sorry . . . I’ll try to be good. Lord knows after my off-roading last year on the Crown Vic I do NOT want to cause any accidents.
Take care, my dear and thanks. It’s just FMS rearing its ugly head a bit.
Oh no, not at all. I got you
Nobody who whose life doesn’t depend on it should need to pursue that level of “hardness”…so many now put their life in danger to pursue that super physique. It’s a shame really – too much of a good thing and all.
I think the need to be “hard” and “cut” becomes a sort of obsession for some people (male and female). Case in point–Madonna. She is so obsessed with staying young and fit and keeping her body fat at a minimum, she has to inject/implant a lot of stuff in her face to keep it from looking haggard.
Women–in my opinion–should have some softness to their appearance. It is part of being feminine. She’s increasingly beginning to look like a Muppet.
Richard is a naturally athletic guy who enjoys running and he’s gonna do what he needs to do to keep the character as authentic as possible–but thank goodness he doesn’t appear to be the sort who *needs* to go to such extremes. Remember, he once said he never realized how much physical training he’d have to do as an actor.
…and sorry if I came off as snippy – not my intention
Didn’t think you were, my dear.
No, no, Richard III needs to take the nightshirt off when he takes his wife to bed!!! I don’t care if the abs are not “rock hard”, I think I’d even find a little “beer belly” attractive on RIchard!
I agree. There is an American actor who mostly did “B” movie stuff that have become cult classics–Bruce Campbell–and he’s put on a little weight since he’s gotten older. I still find him quite sexy.
He’s got a great sense of humor and he’s very down to earth. You know, my kind of guy.
Oh, you are my kind people of FL! I’ve always liked Bruce Campbell. Do you remember “The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.”? My girlfriend and I used to watch it religiously (I think it was on on Friday nights…watched as we were getting ready for our other Friday night ritual – we were in college in Wisconsin – you do the math
) I saw him recently (can’t remember the name of the show) a bit older, a bit heavier, but still cracking wise and totally charming!
It’s that Good Taste Gene, sistah. We have the Briscoe DVDs.
He’s on Burn Notice now on USA (which is quite an entertaining little show about a former spy) and yeah, he’s still got “it.” I think when you have that certain something, it stays with you even as the exterior changes somewhat. My mother still had “it” in her 80s. Charisma.
Have no idea where WP is going to put this comment!
I need to google Bruce Campbell, I have never heard of him I’m afraid!
We have a Greek in our midst?? Ach, ti kalla!!
Sorry…just a hellenophile
My research interests take me to Greece regularly and sometimes my responses come out Στην Ελληνική – keeping it fresh in my mind.
8′m so sorry you have trouble sleeping Angie.
Something to make you smile : a Thorin cushion !!!
http://www.elbenwald.de/products/Kino/Fantasy/Der-Hobbit/Der-Hobbit-Thorin-Kissen.html?utm_source=webgains&siteid=73669
Oh, lead me not into any more temptation!! LOL I am trying to buy a Guy figure on eBay now to go with my Little Thorin. I really can’t afford to buy anything else right now. Gosh. there is an amazing amount of stuff out there tied to TH, isn’t there??
The cushion looks nicely done and the price is about $17.50 USD. Better this than one of these silly decorator cushions from a name designer for twice that. Maybe it reverses to plain black so you don’t have to flaunt being “Thorinized.”
It is attractive. In fact, I have seen a lot of nice-looking merchandise offered as movie-tie-ins. *sigh*
I’m …
A bit off topic ! Did you hear of this new BBC drama “the White Queen” ? It’ will be filmed in Bruges, my country, a marvelous mediaval town ! (the most marvelous “cough”)
http://www.deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws.english/mediatheek_en/2.3815/1.1447952
This is moving because Richard III stayed in Bruges and since I read “the Sunne in Splendour” I can’t help myself seeing him walking through the streets of Bruges !!!!
Excuse the bad english !!!!
That’s great news! I hadn’t heard much about it yet.
Oh My God!!! He is so good to us !
God bless him for all his effort!
LOL Yes, he does work very hard. But we do appreciate it all so very, very much, don’t we??
I do…I do..;) I also appreciate the work of journalist from Lower Alabama who loves hats(fedoras)& English actors (ActoR)
Awwwww, thanks, Miss Joanna.
My comment about The Expendables didn’t go where I intended it to go! Oops!
