You definitely practice truth in advertising silly *giggle* and so very sexy. I have been rewatching Strike Back and I am woefully unsatisfied — not enough Porter!! I just can’t get enough of him *sigh*. Even battered, knackered, and thoroughly pissed off, he is incredibly desirable.
Porter is a great hero–he’s brave, resoourceful, determined and ruthless when necessary, but he also knows how to be tender. And, of course, he’s gorgeous and sexy as all get out.
What a beautiful torso… Even with the scars..It would have been so great had there been more episodes featuring Portah, but then The Hobbit would not have happened for Richard, so.. *sigh*
That is what Benny said the time I made a face when a Strike Back commercial came on Cinemax. “Well, look at it this way, if he was still making the show, he wouldn’t be in the movie.” And it’s a much better career move for him, without a doubt. Still . . . *sigh*
I honestly wish they’d just left him in the desert or sent him off on an off-camera assignment and gone on with their new cast–leaving things open that he might return, instead of killing him and so brutally. However, I fear Richard would find the new incarnation of SB too junkified for his tastes. I know he’s not against doing nudity, but I’ve gotta say it is too much of a T&A fest now. And gratuitous violence. What would they have done with Porter’s character?? Well, it’s a moot point now.
Judging by the way the writers dealt with Porter in the second series, it doesn’t surprise me that they’ve made a plain old sex-&-violence hash of it. Richard is well out of it, although I wish they hadn’t killed off Porter like that. I really do hope he got well-compensated for that.
I haven’t watched any of the second series, but I am assuming they continued in the trend they were going with in the first. Judging by a brief glimpse of a behind-the-scenes clip on Cinemax recently, they were bragging about the big explosions and all the firepower. They didn’t refer to naked boobies and butts and lots of vigorous shagging, but I suspect that continued, too. I’ve got no problem with sex and nudity but for heaven’s sake, when it’s so blatantly thrown in merely to titillate instead of as an integral part of the story. I imagined Beavis and Butthead sitting in front of the TV going “Hehehehehehe. Did you see her boobies??” Yeah, I am glad he’s not yoked to that anymore, but I hate the way they wrote him out.
I haven’t watched the 2nd series either…looked at some of the reviews, etc. They don’t call is Skinemax for nothing I agree…well done, integrated sex scenes are very different from the constant T&A.
I saw the first couple of eps of Cinemax’s version last year to see what happened to John Porter and whether they showed anything in the second ep, and that’s about all this girl could stomach. It sickened me. Yeah, the show pretty much lived up to the channel’s old nickname.
