Richard: Leather & Denim~A Match Made in Heaven for Me

Leather, denim, long legs--and that grin, Irresistible.

I agree, Richard. You (and your denim and leather) earn an enthusiastic thumbs up.

Richard talking to fans after a radio interview in London. His trusty ensemble of leather jacket, blue jeans and the briefcase (just what IS inside there?)

Is it the fact I first “met” Richard as Guy, he of the head-to-toe black leather? Or is it seeing him in his Lucas jeans, striding down the pavement, beautiful hands tucked into the front pockets? Is it recognizing his Porter leather jacket worn to one of his interviews? Is it the simplicity of the outfit–nothing flashy, nothing trendy–robing a body of classical male beauty? I don’t know. I just know I love seeing Richard in leather and denim. *sigh* *thud*

I'm an LA native--Lower Alabama, that is. My husband of more than 30 years and I live here on a portion of my family's former farm with two gorgeous calicos and a handsome GSD mix. My background is art education, and over the years I've been a teacher, department store photographer, sales associate and a journalist. My husband, his business partner and I have Pecan Ridge Productions, a video production company, for which I shoot & edit video and stills and manage marketing. I also still write part-time for the local paper. I love movies, music, art, photography and books, and my tastes in all of them are eclectic.

  1. I adore these candid shots *sigh*.
I went to comment on the leather/denim combo on your post about word of the day (wastrel) and it’s disappeared on me. 😦
I wanted to say I love the whole denim and leather look on him too. Those jeans in the middle pic are the same ones he wore in the 2010 “no escape” photo shoot, and boy, do they suit him, they way they hug his..uhmm..form.
You can’t see his shoes here, but I love the fact he wears those two toned brown lace-ups so often. I think he wore them at the Powhiri ceremony as well.

    • I know, he’s so lovely in RL.

Re the other post, I just wasn’t happy with it. I may try it again later. I have been having lots of trouble with my sleep. I didn’t sleep at all Sunday night, and then Monday I was heavy-eyed until into the afternoon. I finally gave up and fell asleep for several hours. I drowsed in and out and finally got up again at 11:30 p.m. It’s 4 a.m. now. I am watching Lust for Life about Van Gogh and feeling artistically inspired seeing all those gorgeous paintings. Poor Van Gogh, so talented but so tortured.

As Servetus has mentioned on her blog, technically, Richard doesn’t have the right physique to wear jeans, due to the unusually uhm–bountiful nature of his backside. But all the same, I adore those long legs and muscular thighs encased in denim, and how jeans showcase his–masculine assets, shall we say? πŸ˜‰

There is something about his faithfulness to his clothing and accessories that I find so appealing.

  2. What I like most about RA in jeans is how his thighs look in them πŸ™‚ he has quite beefy thighs and most jeans are quite tight… well, you’ve seen the pics, you know where.
I think he has a great body for jeans, ehem, front and back…

    • He has really beautiful thighs–long, lean but muscular. When he played Porter they became even more so, and when he filmed the last series of Spooks and was still carrying his Porter muscles, there are shots of him that are just–yummmm. One of him running with the thighs bulging prominently just makes me thud every time I see it. Have you ever seen the videos of him rehearsing for Cats back in the early 90s? The image quality is poor, but you can recognize it is Richard because of the height, the nose, hands–and the thighs. He is one fine specimen of a masculine beauty. I would love to shake his dad’s hand and hug his mum and tell them both thank yoo for bringing him into the world. πŸ˜€

There is no man whom I personally find more attractive in jeans (or much of anything else, to be honest) than RA.

      • I wonder if his mum looks and him and thinks: Good Job! I don’t mean because he’s such a good person and is successful. I mean the end result of the gene pool. He should be hired by scientists as the male specimen if ever a need arises to repopulate the Earth πŸ˜‰

        • Yes, I can’t help but think John and Margaret look at each other from time to time after seeing their son and say, “Wow. We did a good job!” πŸ˜€ And not only is he spectacular looking, he is also intelligent and talented and athletic. More great genes. AND he has beautiful manners, a great sense of humor, charisma and is kind and thoughtful and down-to-earth. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to remind myself he is REAL and not just some guy I dreamed up!;)

      • @ IWantToBeAPinUp Mmm.. imagine a world repopulated with gorgeous little Richards!:) Seriously, I think it would be a crying shame if he ended up not having any children, because what a waste of perfect genes that would be!!! πŸ™‚ Those genes HAVE to be passed on for the benefit of mankind!

        • He does have a brother, Chris, who has a child, so the Armitage genes will be carried on. However, I do not know if his brother is as genetically spectacular as RA, so I agree–it would be a shame and disgrace if those genes are not passed on. I am quite sure there are those who would be happy to ensure that happens. πŸ˜‰

      • There is no man whom I personally find more attractive, not only in jeans (or much of anything else, to be honest) but also in so many other aspects, than RA. Mostly your words Angie and so true for me!! Mmmmmmm…. πŸ™‚

      • There is this quote I really like:”Good parents give their children roots and wings – roots to know where home is and wings to fly off and practice what has been taught them.” Richard’s parents seem to have done this and I’ll be forever in their debt not only for creating such a beautiful man but also for bringing him up so well. God bless you John and Margaret! πŸ™‚

      • I often wonder whether he takes after mum or dad, and whether his brother/nephew look anything like him! We’ll never know of course since RA keeps his private life to himself and I deeply respect and admire him for that. I really, really hope he finds a good woman to settle down and have children with one day but it can’t be easy with all that travelling he’s been doing in the past few years. If the girlfriend ever wanted to see him she’d have to be travelling with him everywhere like a tennis wife!

        • Yeah, I suspect his schedule over the last few years has worked against him in maintaining a relationship. I mean, six months out of the year for each
RH series, going to South Africa for Strike Back and now in NZ for the better part of two years.
And he has said he doesn’t really want to marry an actress. The workaholic that he is, he doesn’t have much time to meet “civilians.”

I do hope so very much that he will find the right woman for him and have a family. I have also wondered what his family looks like. I actually know someone who has seen a photo of his brother (don’t ask me how) and says there is aphysical resemblance between RA and the brother but he is not as handsome as RA. I mean, really–could there possibly be two men that gorgeous?

      • No man can be as gorgeous as RA- not even his own brother! πŸ™‚ I know he said he doesn’t really want to date an actress but I also read he had a crush on the girl who played Beth in Spooks and wanted to ask her out so maybe it’s not a cast-iron rule. πŸ™‚ Oh why do I want to sort his love life out, he’s a big boy he can take care of himself! *scorns herself* πŸ™‚

  3. Great to see you have a blog now! πŸ™‚

I love Richard’s thighs. No, actually I love all of him. Just look at him in the last picture – he always seems to smile. It must be the shape of his lips.

    • Thank you, Nietzsche! Great to see you here. πŸ˜€ I love all of him, too. I think it is the curve of that Cupid’s-bow of an upper lip that does it. I usually prefer fuller lips on a guy, but I think his mouth is just—perfect. *sigh*

  4. First pic. THAT’s my favourite RA haircut right there. Very Harry Kennedyesque. πŸ™‚ He looks so young on that picture too, no more than 25! Love, love love that smile, happy and relaxed and boyish.

    • When he is completely clean shaven and wears that infectious grin, he looks so boyish. He’s someone who manages to be cute and adorable and sexy and smouldering all in one man.

  5. Richard, jeans, mmm. I’m on an airplane right now (!! in-flight WiFi, how cool is that?), so I have to keep my remarks proper, even though my sentiments are not. I pointed out to a friend once that I thought that there was only one man I;d ever seen look really great in jeans. I didn’t name names, but guess who? Richard not only got great genes, but his athleticism makes what he was given look ever so tempting with the promise of heaven..

    • Leigh! I was just thinking about you and wondering how your travels were going!! πŸ˜€ As far as I am concerned, Richard would be perfect for a jeans ad. They’d make a fortune!
Oh, dear. I just thought of those old Calvin Klein ads with Brooke Shields. “Do you know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing.” *thud*

  6. Ha!. πŸ˜€ If world would be full of ‘Richards’, we will be rooting for small, skinny blond guys, don’t you think Ladies?. πŸ˜‰
