A little more romance . . . with John & Margaret

About fedoralady

I'm an LA native--Lower Alabama, that is. My husband of more than 30 years and I live here on a portion of my family's former farm with two gorgeous calicos and a handsome GSD mix. My background is art education, and over the years I've been a teacher, department store photographer, sales associate and a journalist. My husband, his business partner and I have Pecan Ridge Productions, a video production company, for which I shoot & edit video and stills and manage marketing. I also still write part-time for the local paper. I love movies, music, art, photography and books, and my tastes in all of them are eclectic.

  1. So, which of RA characters fit best with the theme of the day?
I want to say Thornton, as a lot of his other characters have had messed up private lives or I just didn’t buy his love interest. Maybe John Standring?

    • I think John S. represents a steadfast, gentle sort of love . . . Thornton, a more passionate, intense attachment (not to suggest Standring’s love for Carol wasn’t deep) . . . and there’s happy, funny, sweet Harry and his vicar. One of the few characters to have a happy ending romance-wise. (or should I say a happy ending period. So many of them are dead. 😦 Well, WE know they are really SND).

  2. As North and South was where I first “met” and fell for the gorgeous multi-talented Richard, and his incredible portrayal of John Thornton, he has to be my choice for Valentine’s Day. Off to watch N&S (AGAIN!!) for the rest of the afternoon!! How perfect is that ?? 😀 Yummmmm!!

  3. North and South is where I first fell for Richard, too! I think it is a wonderful role for Richard. It showcases his awesome talent. Not that I don’t love Guy, Porter, Lucas, etc. But it’s a romantic part that is perfect for Valentine’s Day.
