Sylvesteeeeer!!! I’m in love with him! 🙂 Although I probably shouldn’t have voted since I haven’t finished listening to Venetia yet, and as far as physical appearance goes, RA is probably closest to Lord Damerel. Both’re tall for one thing! 🙂
I would love to see Richard as Damerel!! One favourite scene of mine from the audiobook is the one in the barn when Venetia is about to come down from the loft after rescuing the kittens and he says, “Shall I hold the ladder for you, my dear delight?” in that oh so sexy baritone voice of his!! And later in that same scene, when she says, “I warn you, the instant your back is turned I shall jump down!” his reply is, “Oh, don’t wait for that! Jump now! I’ll catch you!” He uses that seductive note in his voice to perfection!!!! *Fans self*
I would love to see Richard in Venetia. When I listen to the audiobook I easily envision him in the role of Damerel, whereas for Sylvester, I picture him differently, Sylvester being a younger hero than the other two. Rule, too, I see differently. To me, Richard IS Damerel.
There are so many wonderful scenes between Venetia and Damerel, and I love the one you mention Teuchter. Richard’s beautiful voice was made for Heyer’s witty and sensuous dialogue. Towards the end of the book, when Venetia turns up at Damerel’s door, his response of “My love, my heart, oh my dear delight. It is you” has me in a puddle every time. 🙂
I agree with the trend in the poll. Damerel is definitely the role for Richard.
The audiobook I listen to more often is Venetia, in fact.
He is very good also as the haughty Earl of Rule, but I cannot visualize him with a stammering 17 years old wife! LOL!

Somehow I knew you would say Sylvester.

That’s a great scene. 😉
Memo to self: Must get audiobooks
Oooh, Leigh, you are in for an absolute treat when you do get around to listening to them.
You MUST indeed! 🙂

A very seductive fellow, that Damerel. 😉
