Dessert with Richard (or is that On Richard?)


I just got my April issue of Southern Living Magazine in the mail today. It’s a great mag, lots of info about southern culture, food, decor, travel, gardens and more. Speaking of food, they regularly offer images of mouth-watering “foodporn”–in the case of the front cover this time, a fresh strawberry meringue cake that looks to die for.  Benny whipped up my usual nighttime serving of Activia yogurt into a delicious and nutritious strawberry smoothie–a milkshake without the guilt. We are already planning to make the strawberry chicken salad recipe featured inside the mag. Yummmm!

Now, I personally find strawberries-fresh, ripe, sweet, juicy red strawberries–quite delicious with chocolate.

A juicy berry dipped in sweet, creamy chocolate . . .

And chocolate makes me think of Mr. A with his deep, rich, delicious chocolate velvet voice.

Is that a naughty twinkle I see in those eyes and that smile? Gosh, I hope so.

Hmmmm, chocolate, strawberries and Richard. Let’s add in some whipped cream, shall we?

Homemade chocolate fudge cake, fresh strawberries, chocolate sauce and real whipped cream. And Richard.

  1. I am soooo not going there, angie! Richard and chocolate sauce, whipped cream…mmmmm…I’m keeping my (naughty) thoughts to myself this time! 😉

    • LOL I just figured I could give you all some “food (porn) for thought.” 😉 On a less inflammatory subject, does offer some delish recipes with strawberries. They didn’t have their current cover up yet online or I would have showed you all that. The cake is gorgeous. 😀

      • We’re fortunate here that we can get Aussie grown strawberries all year round, so I’ll look up those recipes, thanks angie.
        The cake looks divine, mouthwatering in fact. Everything I love in a dessert. Just add Richard… 😉

        • Then there’s warm orange-blossom honey mixed with Grand Marnier and warmed. Dip chilled strawberries in warm mixture and share or apply as desired. Then go for the ultimate warm dark chocolate ganache. “Just add Richard…”

      • Thoughts of Richard and strawberries are soooo much nicer than the scene the RH crew came up with between Robin and Isabella IMHO.

        Personally, I confess that condensed milk on peaches would be my desert of choice to eat with/on Richard (with or without the real fruit ;)). Naught Red. I think I’ll blame the bronchitis meds I am on LOL.

        • I have to block that nauseating Bobbin-Izzie scene from my mind. *yuckkkk* Condensed milk has always been a favorite of mind. We have an entire cookbook devoted to recipes featuring it. 😉 And it’s a perfect addition to peaches–of any variety.

  2. Yum, I love smoothies! Unfortunately they’re not very popular in Hungary. I suppose I could make them at home but I’m a bit lazy for that. But whenever I’m in London I always drink at least 2/day! And Naughty Richard is so delicious! 🙂

  3. Wow, chocolate and Richard, two great tastes that (dare I say it) taste great together. (At least they do in my dreams!!!) Might be even better than chocolate and peanut butter!

    Those strawberries look delicious! I might just have to make some tomorrow!!

    • 😉 I can’t help but believe the lovely man with the chocolate voice and professed fondness for the confection would indeed taste great when paired with it. 😉 He may want to kiss the chocolate off Nigella’s lovely lips–we’d fancy kissing it right off his delectable Cupid’s bow! 😉 Hmmm. Wonder if he’s ever had a Reece’s Cup?

      We used frozen berries for the smoothies but I do look forward to getting some fresh ones. One of my fav fruits and hubby’s too. 😀
