Some Thornton for Thursday: “Marry Me”

Some lovely stills from N&S and a simple video featuring Train’s lovely, hearfelt song, Marry Me. See you all later, it’s time for me to try to get some sleep. Happy Thursday!

About fedoralady

I'm an LA native--Lower Alabama, that is. My husband of more than 30 years and I live here on a portion of my family's former farm with two gorgeous calicos and a handsome GSD mix. My background is art education, and over the years I've been a teacher, department store photographer, sales associate and a journalist. My husband, his business partner and I have Pecan Ridge Productions, a video production company, for which I shoot & edit video and stills and manage marketing. I also still write part-time for the local paper. I love movies, music, art, photography and books, and my tastes in all of them are eclectic.

  1. You’re sending us off to sweet dreams with these Thornton Thursday pics! Btw, this is Dawn. Have had problems logging in to comment the last few days so however I’m doing it now it is showing my username rather than my first name.

    Sleep well, Angie!

  2. I haven’t seen this beautiful vid before, angie. Gorgeous caps, and I love the song so much I’ll be downloading it from iTunes!
The train station scene, even just stills from it, always turns me to mush-the sheer beauty and emotion of it…Thornton…that kiss…those hands…the look in his eyes…*sigh* *thud*

    • Glad you liked. 😀 I downloaded it after hearing it on the radio a couple of times. I think it’s a perfect wedding song. As I never plan to marry again–if something happened to Benny, I don’t think I could ever find his equal–I guess I would have to settle on using it for an anniversary celebration. Yes, even the stills manage to capture so much of the depth and sincerity of emotion in his face, in those hands . . . amazing.

  3. I saw this video recently on youtube and absolutely fell in love with it. The images captured of our Mr. Thornton are so beautiful and serene. What a beautiful expressive face. He can really leave me breathless.

  4. Such a lovely video! The words and images meld together perfectly and those close ups? Stunning!! These scenes bring a lump to my throat every time, they are so moving. He IS John Thornton and he IS in love with this woman whom he looks at so tenderly while she talks about such mundane matters such as money and rates of interest. I don’t think he hears a word of it and when he leans in for that kiss. . . .!! If only he’d had that kind of chemistry with some of the other women he’s worked with, but I think he said he and Daniela felt it immediately when they met at the auditions and didn’t have to “manufacture” it. After all he did say it made him “tingle”!! 😉 Maybe that was the problem when he acted with the likes of GO’R and ML among others. They didn’t do that for him! 😀

    • Yes, you could feel the “tingle” couldn’t you? They were so beautifully matched as a couple. Wish they’d work together again.

      • @jhezer I wish they could work together again too!! It’s a wonder TPTB haven’t thought about that. They were such a great pairing. I wonder if they keep in touch at all?

      • If Richard’s star continues to rise and he presumedly shifts to more movie roles, I don’t know if he will have the opportunities to work with some of his past co-stars. We shall see . . .

        • You’re probably right, Angie. I just read an interview in a Hungarian online magazine with Viggo Mortensen. He was of course asked about The Hobbit and he said he’d have liked to be in it but his character wasn’t in the book. 🙂 He also said that every leading actor in the LOTR trilogy was flooded with work offers after the films came out. Some could take advantage of the opportunities that opened up to them and others couldn’t. As for himself, he said he picked projects that interested him. He sounds like a very level-headed guy. Hopefully Richard will be able to pick and choose from proper film roles after TH too whilst making some money to fund his RIII project! Don’t think he’ll go back to TV…

          • Viggo impresses me as a very talented actor who has kept both feet on the ground and managed to retain a private life while conducting a successful career. The fact he is such a Renaissance man–a writer, poet, painter, musician as well as actor–reminds me of our dear Richard, along with his down-to-earth personality. I wouldn’t mind at all if RA’s career followed a similar trajectory as Viggo’s, with hopes he does get lots of offers, including the sort that interest him and will showcase his talents.

    • 😀 Glad you liked it. The song touched me the very first time I heard it. As for the lack of sizzle in his love interests on Spooks, well, Richard was doing his best to hold up his end of the bargain, but it takes two to tango. He can indeed manufacture chemistry on his part, but he can’t manufacture it in his leading lady. 😦 Very poor casting decisions.
