It’s gonna be a pretty miserable day here weather-wise, what with 90 percent chance of rain and a big temperature change on the way with it. FMS no likee these huge atmospheric changes. We really need the rain, however, and it’s been too unseasonably warm for December, so I am really not complaining.
Besides, I’ve got a certain gorgeous guy to drool over. Yes, I succumbed and was one of the 200 who pre-ordered my very own copy of the limited edition featuring Richard on the cover (as opposed to Billy Bob Thornton).
Here’s what the editor had to say on Facebook about the cover:
I found this interesting as I have used a metal overlay with some of my fanart to give it a grittier look–particularly with some of the images of Sgt. Portah.ย I paid a ridiculous amount for a single copy of a magazine–especially when you factor in the postage costs–but it’s in support of the actor I do admire and adore. And hey, it’s a limited edition.ย Heck, I can talk myself into almost anything where this man is concerned.
Oh, those crystal blue eyes brimming with humor and intelligence–thoseย irresistible smiles and infectious laughs–all that charisma and manliness and gentlemanly nature. I just can’t help it. It’s all your fault, Richard Armitage.
That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.
Twenty quid. Ouch. But it had to be done.
Yes, it did. PLUS seven quid for postage for those of us across the pond. The things I do for love of RA . . .
Precisely. It just HAD TO BE DONE. Couldn’t help myself.
Richie Pie, HOney Bunch, don’t you know I love you? I can’t help myself, it’s you I crush and no-body e-else . . .
Well it IS his first cover photo as Richard Armitage, isn’t it? The others were all Thorin covers!
Sure is, to my knowledge. It’s a milestone. And there were only 200. Most of which seemed to have been purchased by people on this blog and my Twitterline LOL!
It was expensive but totally worth it, I’m sure. I decided to give myself an early birthday present, it’s coming up next month anyway! ๐ I can’t wait to have it in my hands! Do we know when will they start posting them?
It’s for RA so that makes it OK. ๐ I guess it will be another Christmas pressie for myself. ๐ I don’t think she mentioned when they are due to start shipping. We should get some more updates, apparently.
So’s mine – that’s how I justified it. (Yeah, right).
Like I said, “That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.” ๐ Whatever works!
You go, girls!
I lost count of how many bday and Christmass pressies I have given myself already… Richard himself is a present, who keeps on giving as you said, Angie!
Christmas with one ‘s’ at the end! Sorry!
The Armitage Effect: finding ourselves adding extra “s” to words whilst discombobulated by the lovely one.
Yes, and he’s worked so hard for so long to get where he is now. It’s one of the ways I can say “thank you,” I suppose.
Sad and grey day here !
After the Empire Magazine, the Thorin mug, the cute Thorin plush, the Thorin Lego I succumbed and ordered the Fault magazine !!!!! OMG I don’t recognize me !!!!!!!
et l’amour ne compte pas
LOL C’est vrai.
to quote Descartes [translated], “The heart has its reasons the mind cannot know.”
And it truly applies in this case. ๐
Well, I have everything you do with the exception of the mug. AND I have the Thorin action figure. Who am I???
Oh I am proud of myself then. Besides purchasing Fault magazine the only other thing I have is Empire magazine. HOWEVER, people that I know are probably tired of me talking about Richard and what a handsome, sexy and talented man that he is. I read Obscura’s blog post and I know exactly what she is going through. I am still a fairly new RA fan. I don’t know how those who have been suffering from richardarmititus have gotten through the years.
We find each other at YT, at the blogsites, forums, etc. I discovered a lot of people from YT. Teuchter, Joanna, Judit, Leigh, Laurie, just to name a few. And we supported each other in our madness. ๐
It’s a good thing we all suffer from the same glorious addiction…
You can’t understand a girl until you’ve walked in her heels. ๐
..or as my boyfriend once said….”in her bra” ๐
At the moment I’m totally Thorinized ! OMG the day after tomorrow. I’ll see Thorin in his all his splendour !!!!!
… in all his splendour …
Wow, lucky you. it will be at least Friday and likely Sunday before I get to see him on the big screen. Can hardly wait!
I have yet to hear when there is a matinee in Gibraltar; I sent e-mail to the nice woman at the cinema as requested and I’m awaiting her reply. I’ll likely be taking the train, a taxi, crossing an international border, all that, so it has to be planned well.
The things we do to see our Richard. *sigh*
The image is striking. It reminds me of those old photographs from WWII. The landing in Normandy, in particular.
I also ordered the magazine – after already getting the Empire mag in London (the Thorin issue was almost sold out). *blush*
It’s quite different from your standard glossy magazine cover, and I like that. A kind soul actually obtained a copy of the Empire mag from a London newsstand and sent it to me. Soon the world will catch on that RA is a hot seller. ๐
So true Angie! It’s all Richard’s fault. ๐ I don’t seem to be able to resist, any more than I can resist the guy in the above pictures. I seem to fall for him in a whole new way every day.
I’m almost afraid to total up what all this heap of Hobbity stuff has cost me so far between books, magazines, and calendars not to mention yet another book, the Thorin T-shirt and now Fault Magazine that I have on order – whew!! Who knows what I might succumb to yet! ๐ I’m going to be bankrupt at this rate. Not only that but these are all for little old ME!! How selfish is that? No sharing these beauties! Actually there are a couple of items I do have duplicates of that I *might* give away. Another excuse I’m using is that all of these are an “Investment”!! ๐
I’m rather thrilled – not to mention intrigued – by this little quote I read today from an article on RANet.com; “With several highly anticipated projects upcoming in the United States, Armitage is quickly rising as a leading man in Hollywood as well.” As we only know of Black Sky up till now this has got my mind on overdrive, so I’d love to hear what y’all think of these remarks! ๐ ๐ Can I just plead with TPTB that at least ONE of these “projects” could be “all about love”?
He’s such a special guy. I think all the interviews–not only what he’s said, but what’s been said about him as an actor and a human being–along with the wonderful photos, well it’s hard not to just fall for him hard all over again.
I have no idea what those projects might be. We do know he’s planning to go back to LA for a bit, so that could tie into it.
Count me in as another one who succumbed! I thought of waiting until Ali posted the discount voucher but with only 200 available, I didn’t want to take the chance that I’d miss out. Richard is well and truly worth spending the extra to ensure I have that photoshoot/interview in my hands.
The Empire Hobbit issue is available here now, but just with standard covers it would seem. I’m happy that I ordered the Thorin cover from o/s. Now all I have to do is track down the Glamour UK magazine. ๐
I’ve also justified my purchases as presents to myself, given that Christmas, and my birthday, are coming up soon.
As for the extra wait until after Christmas to see The Hobbit….I still get thoroughly peeved if I allow myself to dwell on it. *sigh*
I actually did find the UK Glamour magazine while grocery shopping on Saturday, but was disappointed to see that it was only their NOVEMBER issue. ๐ฆ
At least you know they stock it! Never having had a reason to want to buy it before now, I don’t even know if it’s available locally. I’ll be doing the rounds of the newsagents again like I did for Empire!
We will do whatever it takes, won’t we?? ๐
I was shocked to find it too as it’s actually a pretty small magazine. Of course I’ve never felt the urge to look for it before either. We are experiencing a whole heap of “firsts” these days, aren’t we? ๐
It’s occurred to me that it may be available here, like Canada, but not in the US because we’re both in the Commonwealth. I recall Bollyknickers commenting previously that she has found somewhere that stocks it.
That’s what I figured. We do get a few foreign magazines at the big bookstores like Barnes and Nobles and Books-a-Million, but it’s generally not foreign editions of titles already found here.
That’s a good point! When I say small it was roughly about 10 x 7 or 8 (IF my memory serves me correctly!) but quite a good number of pages.
Glamour UK isn’t sold anywhere here, but I would love to have a copy. I am very proud of my Empire magazine with the gorgeous 3D cover. ๐
I am so sorry you guys have to wait that extra time to see the film. Just doesn’t seem right.
You WILL have a copy Angie, rest assured! ๐ Remember I’m flying to London tomorrow…
Have a wonderful time Judit!! I’m sure you will. Looking forward to hearing all about it! ๐
Yours already awaits you…. Do you read your emails??
Thank you. ๐
Glamour must have downsized since the days I read it (granted, that’s been about 25 years LOL) it used to be a fairly hefty magazine.
There was another Glamour magazine that was “normal’ sized but the UK edition was much smaller.
