For me, it’s all about the Thorin (when it comes to trailers . . .)

Standard

So the long-awaited first trailer for TH:DOS arrives today, appearing online at noon my time (CST). What are you looking forward to (other than Thorin, of course)? Thranduil? Legolas? Smaug? Tauriel?

Now, I KNOW this film will feature a lot of new faces (and old ones like Orlando Bloom) being introduced or taking a larger role in the story and Tolkien fans are looking mightily forward to spiders and dragons and lions and tigers and bears oh my!! (OK, maybe not the last three).  I KNOW it’s not going to be Thorin’s story in the same way the first film was. I understand. Please, no one should feel the need to explain any of that to me. Honestly, I get it.

But what it all boils down to for me is this majestic individual with the magnificent mane, the Heir of Durin, the fierce dwarf warrior–Thorin Oakenshield.

About fedoralady

I'm an LA native--Lower Alabama, that is. My husband of more than 30 years and I live here on a portion of my family's former farm with two gorgeous calicos and a handsome GSD mix. My background is art education, and over the years I've been a teacher, department store photographer, sales associate and a journalist. My husband, his business partner and I have Pecan Ridge Productions, a video production company, for which I shoot & edit video and stills and manage marketing. I also still write part-time for the local paper. I love movies, music, art, photography and books, and my tastes in all of them are eclectic.

  1. Shouldn’t that be the HAIR of Durin? LOL — Anyway– I’m going to be out the house at the time of the first showing of THE TRAILER!! I’m trying to figure out how to duct tape a TV to a golf cart. Why did they have to pick today for a tournament….I suppose I’ll find it on the computer somewhere later. I’ll check in here later to look for a link where I can see it!!

  2. For me, too, it’s all about Thorin. The rest of it can be as impressive as all get out, but I’m here for the King Under the Mountain.

  3. From what I read from the book, there will be still many stuffs about Thorin, but I confess, I´d rather Legolas he wasn´t in this movie. This character doesn´t appear in the story and I would not like him stole some light from the movie in detriment of a certain majestic dwarf.

  4. Have not seen the trailer yet, but whether or not it’s as much Thorin’s story–you’d better believe that my eyes will be on him or looking for him.
