Assorted and sundry RA-related bits and bobs for Saturday

Another drawing by Evankart, this time of Thorin and Dwalin. A little slashy?

Charming little montage shared by Richard Armitage Bulgaria on FB.

He’s just so handsome and–kindly looking.

Guyday Friday: Sir Guy, take me away!

Woke up this morning with virtually everything hurting. From my toes to my jaw. I think even my hair is hurting a little. How something that is essentially dead can cause you pain, I don’t know.

Had a muscle relaxer with a nice healthy breakfast–Great Grains with chopped apple, banana, dried cherries and cranberries. I will try to eat well even if I feel like crap. I will try to think positively even when the darkness threatens. Dry those stupid, aggravating tears and find a smile. My husband says I am a tough old bird underneath it all.  I hope so.

But what I need right now—is this.

And this.

And this.

And some of this.

And some of this.

BeFunky_Sepia_1fuydepadistressedOh, yes, I think I am feeling better already . . .  still. I could use a little more . . .

I’ve been busy. But not too busy for Thorin Thursday!

What can I say? Better a bit late than never. It has been that kind of a day . . .

BJAwGZQCEAEJICcDon’t mess with the Thorin. Really, I don’t recommend it.

BeFunky_thehobbit-p1_4389.jpgBut gosh, he is beautiful. One can understand certain fantasies about him that mischievous sprites at Wikipedia have implied . . . 😉  Ah, kingly, imperious, volatile, angsty, alpha Thorin . . .  who would have thought an almost 200-year-old hirsute dwarf could punch us so hard in the solar plexus?

BeFunky_29-Thorin-EWiPad-July2012befunkythorinletter44http___makeagif.com_media_6-12-2013_b_u9arthorinbarrelgifWet, raging Thorin always stirs that sexy imagination of mine . . .

And boy, does this photo still do it for me! *thud*

And the mane . . . the dwarf’s, I mean, not the horse’s. Although hers is very nice, too. And they could always toss them in tandem, right??

My get-up-and-go issues . . . and some RA

It’s been a strange week. On top of the FMS I  happen to have a low-grade chronic form of mono–nothing “catching,” just a nuisance that rears its exhausting little head from time to time  when I am under a lot of stress. Benny’s illness did just that–stressed me out. He’s been to the doctor, he’s taking the antibiotics and seems to be slowly improving. Thank goodness!

I still have trouble sleeping at night and the last couple of days I’ve fallen asleep in the afternoon and slept until 9 or 10 p.m. I do actually seem to rest fairly well during those hours, but I am still worn out. Hence not a lot done around here. The Dishwashing Fairy better put in an appearance tomorrow, spouse  informed me.

I’ve been busy with the Humane Society, scheduling spay/neuter surgeries,  and trying to promote what we do and our calendar photo project (“Send in those photos, ladies and gents. The pet calendar is going international”)  via FB (See link below).  Now attempting to untangle the organization’s website, which has been long neglected–honestly, I think it might be easier if I started all over again from scratch!

Also doing some work for Pecan Ridge, researching photo package prices for an event we hope to cover in mid-October in Tuscaloosa for my friend Naomi and her family.  And I need to work on a wedding music video (or as Benny calls it, “musical montage”) for the Harrells. But I only get so much done before . . .

We finally got a decent amount of sunshine today, which really did lift my spirits. So much so I had to go out for a walk, even though the knees were balky. My hair was clean and fluffy and I had my favorite crushable hat on and yes, for a little while, I was feeling pretty good. Ya gotta grab for those feelings while they are out there, or so I have learned.

And now the stormy weather is back, thundering all around and my poor old knees aren’t the least bit happy. Very tired again. Maybe I will sleep some tonight.

Anyway, sorry for being a bit absent from things RA.  Maybe I will be able to make it up to you later . . . or perhaps, even a bit now.

Send in those pet photos, ladies & gents. The pet calendar is going international.

You all know how much my pets and animal welfare in general means to me. I hope you all know how much YOU mean to me as well, my multi-national band of clever, witty, kind, generous and beautiful  sisters (and brothers!) who also admire Mr. Armitage and his many fine qualities. Richard Armitage sets a good example by supporting charitable endeavors and so do I.  And working with the BCHS’s fundraising projects as its new PR chair is one of the ways I do that!

I FINALLY have control over the Butler County Humane Society website and I will be giving it an overhaul (hasn’t been updated in ages, it appears) and while I am still waiting on the banking information, there will be a PayPal donation site on it soon.  Not worrying about entry fees or donations right now as much as PHOTOS. We need them. People around these here parts have a bad habit of procrastinating on such matters. We are now getting entries online and via snail mail, but we need many more. Our calendars are designed with photo collage pages rather than a single pet featured per page. That means more pets get featured and there are more beautiful, funny and cute photos for us all to enjoy and “oooh” and “ahhhh” over and more reasons for more folks to purchase them for themselves and as gifts for friends and family.

And of course, the more entries ultimately means more funds raised. More funds to help more homeless animals in our county, many of which are transported through animal rescue groups to new homes in the Northeast and in Florida. It’s a win-win situation!!

If you have pet photos, old or current, of pets from past or present that you want to share, please send them to me at and copy to  This will help me keep track of your participation. Please share a caption about your animal as well–name, age, breed, something about personality.   We DO have a Memorial Page, for which I am contributing photos of two of my pets, Ginger and Thumper.

If you wish to go ahead and pay your entry fee ($5.50 per photo entered) you may do so now by using the Comic-Con button on this site and indicating the payment is for “pet calendar photos.” Any payments made to my PayPal account will be transferred to the BCHS.  Those of you who live here in the U.S. may also wish to send your payment by a check made payable to “Butler County Humane Society” to: Butler County Humane Society, P.O. Box 264, Greenville AL 36037.

Most important of all — send those photos and send them SOON!  Just the thought of your entries is making Buddy smile.  😀

And because it’s Whoa Wednesday, here’s a little whoaaa for you courtesy of Mr. A, who thinks it’s such a great idea he’s overcome with the need to remove his clothes and get into a clinch with someone. Ladies, line forms to the left . . .

Thorin Oakenshield air guitar craze seems to be spreading

This is just delightful and right now I needed a good chuckle!!

Me + Richard Armitage

First, Richard Armitage played Thorin playing air guitar …

Guylty wondered, a bit prophetically, whether Lego Mini-Thorin would get involved.

Now, we know that Lego Mini-Thorin has a bit of an enhanced inferiority complex, even though he can do things that no other Thorin figure can do.

Even so — this just in — Rafaella noticed that not to be outdone, Lego Mini-Thorin is playing air guitar as well.

He was smart this time — he joined forces with Saracen Gizzy!

Thorin & Saracen Gizzy

They set out on an adventure together.

“I’ll help you if you help me,” Gizzy said to Thorin.

“Anything,” Thorin said to Gizzy, “as long as I get a real sword out of it.”

Gizzy unmasked and together they battled the Sheriff and the Orc!

Sunday SmoRgAsbord: Richard on the Red Carpet (Pt.2)

For a man who once described red carpet appearances as a somewhat agonizing experience for him, we’ve seen Richard Armitage‘s poise, quiet confidence and aplomb on such occasions only increase by leaps and bounds. Love his interactions with the fans along the way–the manner in which he gives his attention to each person, focusing those beautiful eyes and that warm, personable smile on each individual. He laughs, he jokes, he charms with seemingly effortless grace.

A test screening audience member’s reaction to ‘Black Sky.’

This is a review left by z74neo at IMDB after attending a screening of “Black Sky.”  Title of it?

So I was lucky enough to catch a test screening last night. An invitation was sent to me to preview an upcoming film called “Untitled Tornado Project”. But I was kinda iffy about it since I hadn’t heard of any tornado film coming out–certainly not this one–it sounded straight-to-video, and they didn’t mention any cast members. Yet I had always wondered if they were ever going to do a Twister sequel (although something kinda cheesy about the idea), and I’ve always been fascinated by tornadoes (I’m actually kinda subconsiously terrified of them while at the same time a “fan”), so I thought I’d check it out. Bless mother nature that I did.

THIS. BETTER. GET. RELEASED. It’d be an IMMENSE shame if this went straight-to-video or was shelved. People gotta see this on the big screen. If you like Twister, you’ll love this one. Now, maybe because I’m a fan of Twister, I did feel this film lacked a certain charm that Twister had, but there are SO many things this film did BETTER. Of course, for sure, one main aspect being the effects. They said the film wasn’t finished and asked us to be understanding if certain shots looked incomplete, but I didn’t notice anything looking poor.

If the actual release does look even better, I’ll literally be blown away (pun intended). The film also feels a bit more real than Twister, and doesn’t have as much “yeah, right” moments–although there are a few. More over, there are moments during the awesome climax where you want go “yeah, right”, but you’re just so entranced by ingenuity of the sequence that you can’t help but be amazed (at least, I couldn’t). While still contrived in certain respects, and not a whole lot more in way of a plot, it does have a marginally better story and slightly more interesting characters. And finally, it does feel as though it has a certain relevance today in wake of all the recent tornado tragedies, as well as the advent of our youtube generation. If you like Twister or disaster pics or tornadoes in general, then when this comes out, GO SEE IT. It’s a great ride.

(Well, we weren’t expecting Shakespeare–it is a found-footage disaster film, after all–but it certainly doesn’t sound as if it’s something of which Mr. A should be ashamed, either. And I suspect I would find a certain character much more than “slightly more interesting” than any characters in Twister. )

Your thoughts?

My own Photoshop Elements-made fake movie poster for the film. The top photo is one tweeted by Todd Garner, film producer, during post-production.

A little Armitage poem. ;)

My edit of a photo taken by Craig Simcox/Fairfax NZ.

Oh, Mr. Armitage, I am LOVING those waves and curls! I’ve told you I adore my own husband’s naturally wavy hair and how it curls at the nape of the neck when there is any length to it, right? So cute and adorable and fun to run my fingers through. *sigh*

So, my dear fellow, I find this look abso-freakin’-lutely irresistible.

From your ever-more-gooey ardent admirer,

More edits of the Wellie Wonder. :D

Gosh, he just looks like such a darned sweet guy.

OK, slept from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and have been awake since then. Starting to pine for more sleep . . . maybe I will dream of some nattily dressed tall, dark and toothsome dude with a majestic beard and dazzling smile.  😀

Go give this artist some love: Yanagoya

. . . if you loved the edit (which apparently he/she did NOT do) or immersing yourself in the full splendor of this artwork, which we have displayed here before. I was misinformed on FB as to the actual artist’s identity, an honest mistake in my case, as I certainly was not taking credit for this amazing piece of fanart. 😉 Also FYI while I have a tumblr account, everything posted there goes directly there from here. Still haven’t figured out how to navigate the darned thing. So I am never actually “there.”

Here is Yanagoya’s artwork, as I said, apparently edited by someone else. I have to say this edit still has amazing power and intensity. Really brings focus to the eyes.

And here is the magnificent original:

Enjoy! Again, I apologize for any confusion or misinformation concerning the identity of the artist. Looking forward to more!

FYI Yanagoya is, as I believed to be the case, also known as Aaorin at Deviant Art. Thank you, Guylty, for confirming that.

Eye candy with sophistication; or how much I like a sharp-dressed man

I’m frustrated and in pain, the kind of pain that occasionally makes you think a big handful of something that would send you into oblivion might not be a bad idea. But this, this makes me feel better. Playing with new images of RA popping up from film premiere, less than top quality though some may be.  The subject is grade-A prime.  Dazzling!!

Please note, ladies and gentlemen, the nape curls. No cropping of the hair for RA during these pickups (hooray!) Whilst he has the sort of skull that can handle a very short haircut, I really prefer it with a little length. Because with length we get fetching, soft-looking nape curls that beg us to reach out and ruffle . . .  if Meri can be Beardstroker, I want to be Angie Nape Curl Teaser!  And look at that profile–the noble nose and that distinguished and neatly trimmed beard.  And the soft smile . . . *sigh*

Well, hello, there, sharp-dressed, immaculately-groomed man of our dreams!! If the world can end with us looking at you, it won’t be so bad!

Loving this suit and tie combo on him. Looks perfectly tailored to that impressive physique. Oh, Mama . . .

Can’t wait for more pix to turn up!
