If you didn’t already want to go to NZ–listen to this.

Oh, watch it too–the scenery is beautiful, too. Absolutely stunning. But I am quite mesmerized by that deep, deep, masculine voice . . . thank you for this little birthday treat courtesy of 100 Percent Middle Earth, 100 Percent New Zealand.

About fedoralady

I'm an LA native--Lower Alabama, that is. My husband of more than 30 years and I live here on a portion of my family's former farm with two gorgeous calicos and a handsome GSD mix. My background is art education, and over the years I've been a teacher, department store photographer, sales associate and a journalist. My husband, his business partner and I have Pecan Ridge Productions, a video production company, for which I shoot & edit video and stills and manage marketing. I also still write part-time for the local paper. I love movies, music, art, photography and books, and my tastes in all of them are eclectic.

    • You’ve got it, baby. I think he was in Thorin mode when he recorded that. In fact, I am imagining him in full wig, makeup and wardrobe sitting majestically at the microphone. 😀

      • That was what I was thinking – Thorin doing a voice-over for Middle Earth. Method acting at its best? Or specifically requested by the advertising dept of NZ tourism 😉 In any case, a joy to listen to.

  1. I’m all shook up!! *Ooof* for the ears indeed! 😉

Could they have picked a more *perfect* voice for this? Makes you want to book a flight asap!! 🙂

    • I think I am correct in saying that the opening scene is of Rangitoto Island which can be seen from Auckland. Just one of the many volcanoes NZ is famous for!

  2. As I am already living in New Zealand, personally I would have prefered a version of Thorin Oakenshield standing on the Carrock (or wherever really) and talking in this deep voice of his. But no matter it is always good to hear that voice!!
And coming originally from Germany, I do pity all the people in countries where the voices of the original actors are dubbed over, what a loss!!!!

  3. By the way, wasn’t there a rumour that Richard thought about settling in New Zealand? I wonder, would he go to Gisborne or rather to Milton? 😉
