Welcome! Richard Armitage is a fabulous British actor who deserves to be better known . . . and it’s happening right now as he wows audiences as the majestic and fierce warrior Thorin in the first installment of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy.

Look out world, Mr. Armitage has arrived!

Talk about a total package. This man has talent and versatility like nobody’s business, with the ability to completely immerse himself in a role and deliver a compelling and believable performance. Add in generous doses of charisma, sex appeal and masculine good looks that are off the charts. To top it all off–Richard Armitage is a thoroughly nice guy, a consummate professional and a true gentleman. Very refreshing these days.

As someone who admires, respects and crushes on him like mad, I created this blog to explore the amazing, invigorating, surprising, delightful effect this special fellow has on us–the Armitage effect. Forays into discussions about music, art, films, books and more will appear, but almost all roads lead to Armitage. I hope you enjoy the ride!

  1. Hello, I really enjoy reading your blog, that is why when someone nominated my blog for The Liebster Blog Award and in turn I could nominate other blogs, yours was the one I though of straight away. I hope you accept.
If so here are the rules that come with this award:
•Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog.
•Link back to the blogger who awarded you.
•Give your top 5 picks for the award.
•Inform your top 5 by leaving a comment on their blog.
•Post the award on your blog.

  2. I know the feeling. You can forward my post on the blog, but more importantly you should nominate 5 blogs that you enjoy. I have to admit I haven’t been round enough to choose 5 and I’m not sure which one has been around for less than a year. But, heck, we got an award!

    • Thanks for the info. I really wasn’t expecting this, But all in all it has been a good first week! 😀

Several of the ones I regularly visit are older than a year. I will have to think on it. Heck, I have to figure out what my other topics for FanstRAvaganza, I only have one turned in to servetus.

  3. I like very much your blog! “Richard Armitage is a fabulous British actor who deserves to be better known “- That’s exactly what I feel”1

  4. Hi, I only just recently discovered Richard Armitage (We don’t get plenty of good British shows in my part of the world so, really he’s not well known here ). The immediate thing I did was to get my hands on a copy of North & South and the rest as the say is history – The Armitage Effect (you really nailed it there 😉 ). Been looking up on RA and found your site – thank you so much for those lovely behind the scenes pics. I can’t wait to see more from you! I’ll be sure to follow your blog closely 🙂

    • Hello, Anne, and welcome!

Richard is a very special actor (as you already know) and very likely the best actor many people have never heard of–but I do think that will change with The Hobbit. He’s already drawing more interest due to playing Thorin. I hope you have lots of fun exploring Armitage World and please feel free to comment here at the blog any time you like. We who love Richarding are pretty much a friendly lot! 😉 Glad you enjoyed the pix and there’s more RA goodness to come.
      Cheers!

  5. Came across your review on 50SoG and then read your profile. Nice Points made, but I confess your lack of modesty while self-describing is very funny.

    • Hi, Julie, and welcome. What exactly did you see as a “lack of modesty while self-describing?” Just curious.
And I am actually pretty funny in RL, or so I’ve been told. 😉

  6. I just love your blog and your videos. Have you ever done one with “I Knew I Love You”, by Savage Garden? I think it would be the perfect backdrop for one of your fabulous Richard Armitage fanvids. I look forward to your blog entries.

        • Harry and Gerri always put a smile on my face. It’s so good to see a character of Richard’s get the girl, and for the girl to be so enthusiastic about it and worthy of his attentions. 😀

          • I was showing my adult son (early thirties) your blog, after telling him how much I liked it. Geoffrey, who I sometimes think is a throwback to another time said of you, “she sounds like a saucy wench.” This is actually high praise from him, and he met no offense. I just thought that I would pass that a long to you.

            • LOL I think my hubby would agree with your son, Tamera. But I do think my sauciness is also one of the things he likes about me. 😉 And I think it’s pretty much ingrained in me at this point, so vive le sauciness!! 😀 You can tell your son I take it as a compliment. 😀

              • My son says that your husband is a lucky man, and hopes he appreciates you. I happen to think my thirty-two year old son is wise beyond his years.

              • Awww, that is sweet. Tell your son thanks. I would say we both feel very lucky and blessed to have each other. I say he’s the best guy in the whole world–and Richard is a runner-up. 😉 We’ve been together for more than 27 years now. 😀 Your son sounds like a very special young man himself.

  7. I love your blog!! And I couldn’t agree more, Richard deserves WORLDWIDE recognition, he’s so wonderful that he shouldn’t have anything less!! I absolutely adore him ❤

    • Thank you, Noemi, and welcome! We love Richard here and celebrating all things Armitage. I believe that recognition he so richly deserves is underway. And when the Hobbit hits the screens in December–watch out, world!! 😀

  8. Hi Angie! I wanted to say thank you very much again for your advice to make a video, I’ve just finished it, yay! The quality isn’t brilliant but I hope you like it. And I’ve written the subtitles too (apologies if it sounds odd ;P). Here’s the link in case you want to watch it : http://youtu.be/1gSdiUBMpxU

  9. So thrilled for DNA prove on body in that parking lot!! Hope film comes along on R3 w/RA..!! …but…NOW RA goes GLOBAL!!!!..YES-S-S!!!! Seen Hobbit 2X and He is ..FAB!! THX for your “…EFFECT”! Can’t wait for more! Best, Humma.

  10. I fell in love with Richard Armitage when I saw him as John Thornton. Wow! You see I’m a Pride & Prejudice fan so I fell in love with North & South. Now he is my top favorite actor next to Jake Gyllenhaal. I was so excited when I saw him in The Hobbit ads *sigh* He is so awesome!

  11. Hello, all! Erm, I am a bit confused. I’m young and recently joined the fandom (although I have NO IDEA why i didn’t know who this man was before!!!), and I would like to follow this blog. I really like this one, as I’ve seen various posts in my various searches-yes, I will admit to searching Mr. Armitage on the Internet. Do I simply sign up to follow and leave comments when able? Or do I need to fill out some form or other to register…? If you don’t mind me saying, I look forward to joining the discussions here. I hope it’s alright if I do? Thank you!

    • Hello, Kait, and welcome! How lovely that you like it here so much! All you need to do is register with Word Press–name, email, URL if you have one, add an avi if you like–and then when you leave a comment on a post, you won’t have to fill in a form every time. ALSO, when you do make comments, they will go up directly to the post, rather than me having to approve it first (as I am doing now with this comment). Much easier to jump into things that way.

And YES you are more than welcome to join right in with any of the discussions. We are a friendly place that celebrates a truly special human being–beautiful, talented, modest, kind, generous, sexy and adorable–so we hope you will feel at home here. 😀

      • It is done! I made an account, and I hope everything came out alright. I didn’t make a blog, but I did register a username for myself, as you can see 🙂 I hope you still don’t have to approve comments… My connection is a bit wonky, so if anything went amiss, please don’t hesitate to tell me, I don’t mind correction.
Thank you so much for welcoming me, you are so kind!!! I believe I will absolutely love it here :3 Thanks again, and I look forward to everything!

        • Super! I did have to approve this one, but I think it’s due to it being the first time you’ve logged in under the new username, so no worries. Am I right in guessing it was the majestic, fierce and beautiful warrior dwarf named Thorin who brought you to discover Mr. Armitage? 😉 As I knew would be the case, RA nailed the character perfectly.

Look forward to seeing you at the blog, and again, welcome! 😀

          • Awesome 😀 I just hope it continues to work. And you would be 110% right-I get butterflies when I gaze at that handsome king. He did peg the role, because he’s amazing, as we already knew ;p I have read the book, a while back (and am rereading it now, it got fuzzy in some plot spots because of a few years). Absolutely love Tolkien, grown up on it, as I’ve read Mr. A. himself say he had. I’m sorry, I must be talking your ear off! I beg your pardon. I can be quite chatty, and I’ve had all of nothing to do today. I won’t bother you anymore, and if I have I’m awfully sorry. Have a wonderful evening, Ms. Fedoralady, and thanks for all the help! ❤

            • Working beautifully! So glad you’ve discovered my favorite dwarf. 😀 Don’t apologize for being excited about anything about RA. We all get quite carried away at times. Have a good night yourself, my dear. 😀

  12. Hi, Fedoralady. Wasn’t sure how to send you a private message, so I guess I’d ask if you could just delete this from here when we’re finished. I met Mezz quite by chance in Sydney last week- hers was one of the few blogs I’d been reading (along with yours) in the last little while. I went to the event on my own as I didn’t know anyone else who follows RA. You can imagine my surprise when she told me her name whilst we were waiting in the queue and it was one I’d heard of! When I told her my name she asked if I was the one who’d commented for the first time on your blog a few days prior. I explained that I’m not on twitter, Facebook or tumblr so she suggested getting in touch with you and ask you to pass my details on to her so we can be in touch. Would you mind, please?
    Kind regards, Katharine
