Richard Armitage, the most wonderful, nurturing crush a girl could have.

Standard

First, here’s a beautiful copy direct from Warner Brothers of the promo featuring that tear-inducing hug between Bilbo and Thorin at the end.

Richard, you just keep outdoing yourself. You looked wonderful this morning in Toronto. Loved the look. Classic and classy, but with a contemporary vibe, too. A dapper English gentleman with style from the top of your handsome head to the tips of your well-shod toes.

In your interview on Marilyn Denis‘s show, you were relaxed, charming and playful. Loved the dip of the host–you do know how to make an entrance, don’t you, my dear boy?

I learned you like the word “serendipitous,” too. If the grey in your natural beard proved to be so, then my discovering you was just as serendipitous.

But what really, truly got to me was when you shared those kind words about your fandom and how supportive we are of you.
Of course we are supportive; with a classy gent who is so kind, thoughtful, modest, generous and gentle on top of all that talent and beauty, how could we not want to cheer you on every step of the way?

You give us so much through your portrayals, the way you give your characters breadth and depth and life. And you, yourself, are a gift. An extraordinarily gifted human being whose inner beauty keeps radiating out to illuminate our own lives.

If we are the loveliest, most supportive fan base an actor could have, then surely you are the most wonderful, nurturing crush any girl–or guy–could have.

That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.

  1. *Sigh* I’ve been a fan since one fateful night in summer, 2007, when I was introduced to a moody cotton mill owner. I’ve never been the same since. Can’t recall exactly what life was like before, and I’m looking forward to many happy years ahead. 🙂

    • & I met a moody, mercurial medieval henchman that same summer . . . and I haven’t been the same, either. Don’t want to go back to life without him and thrilled to look ahead to what is to come for this dear, dear man. 😀

  2. LOL I love how it’s all women in the studio in the video! 😉 While he has been exuding such confidence over the last couple of weeks, I still love that he has moments of obvious humility, almost looking uncomforable at times. I am relative new (having just found him this late spring), but I feel like I have been following him/involved in the fandom for so much longer than that!

    • He is so honest, I think–doesn’t mind admitting/showing some degree of vulnerability, the fears and doubts many of us have in certain situations. Something every appealing about that. As Martin said, doesn’t seem to feel the need to be all macho, he just gets on with things.

  3. Angie this was indeed a beautiful post. The interview was lovely wasn’t it he just a darling man very down to earth no edge to him at all. Oh did I mention that he looked soooo hot!

  4. RA said it well when, in the interview with Marilyn, referring to both PJ and Thorin, he said he didn’t so much want to command respect, but rather earn loyalty. He spoke of his loyal fans who have been with him for 8 years, since NS. He has certainly earned my loyalty, not just because he is gorgeous (which first drew me in), but also because of the quality of his work and the admirable sweetheart of a human being that he is, as felt by all his fans and recently articulated by Martin Freeman in Japan. He is addictive, however, ought to be illegal! But that would never do! What would Angie and the rest of us do with ourselves to have so much fun?

    • I’ve already told Benny I don’t want to get over this addiction. 😉 RA is a thoroughly admiRAble man in terms of his character, talent, good looks and more. And more and more people will come to see that.

  5. Beautifully said Angie, and what a lovely interview. I reckon he’s won Marilyn over! I’ve always enjoyed his interviews, but IMO we are truly seeing Richard Armitage the “movie star” now, charming, polished and confident, yet with his innate humility and decency still shining through.
I’m loving him even more if that was possible.

    • He’s come a long way from those early interviews in which his shyness and nerves tended to be rather evident, hasn’t he? “Polished” is the perfect word. And yeah, I think I love him more than ever, too. *sigh*

  6. Beautiful post Angie! I first “met” him in 2004/2005 when he appeared as the TDHCMO and from then on I was under his spell! I was, therefore, overwhelmingly proud seeing him “live” on my TV this morning and thought he looked fantastic and much more relaxed than I could ever have hoped. To see him on a Canadian show was really thrilling. Even with all the recent hype and the adulation he is receiving he still remains the same Richard we have always known him to be – modest, a little shy, self-effacing and totally, totally gorgeous!! Be still my beating heart! 😉 Isn’t it wonderful to know that we could not have chosen a more perfect person to crush on! I just love him to bits! 🙂
