I love this picture.

Standard

Richard Armitage signing autographs at Comic-Con in San Diego in July. Courtesy of RANet and Cambear.

If you visit the SDCC gallery at RANet you’ll be able to click on a very larger version of this photo. Be sure and feast your eyes upon it. It is just the sort of candid photo of Richard Armitage so many of us love.

The real Richard, unposed and unretouched,  his crinkles and the grey hairs in his beard readily visible, the scar on his forehead not air-brushed away; looking a little tired, perhaps, but nonetheless in good spirits.  There’s that look of bonhomie on his face, his smile reflected in his eyes, one elfin ear on display.

A nice guy, surely. And such a beautiful man.

Thank you, Cambear, for sharing this with RANet and thus with all of us.

  1. I adore this picture too, and for all the reasons you mention, Angie. I want to add my thanks too to Cambear for sharing it with us. He’s just beautiful.

    • I was just getting ready to call it a night, and decided to pop in to RANet. Glad I did, as this wasn’t posted when I was there earlier. There is a sort of–beneficence that seems to shine from him, that beauty inside and out. I can only believe this is a man with his heart in the right place. Makes me want to hug him and say, “Thanks for being you, Rich.”

          • It’s funny isn’t it, how just the sight of him can make us feel so emotional, teary. Even after having seen all the other ComiCon pictures, all it takes is a beautiful “new” one like this and the feelings hit me like the very first time, and I find myself falling for him even more.

            • Someone that I have never met and probably will never meet, who doesn’t know me from Adam, has no idea I even exist–and yet. I feel about him as I would someone very near and dear to me. He has managed to touch my heart and soul and spirit in such a way, it only takes, as you say, a beautiful “new” picture to be overwhelmed once more. I suppose one would call it the Armitage Effect. 😀

            • That’s exactly the reaction I had Mezz. We have been watching so many pictures probably dozens of times (if not hundreds!) then a new one like this appears and WHAM!! We’ve fallen for him all over again.

          • I’m glad to see that I wasn’t the only one, Angie 🙂
Exactly, it’s no wonder that we all love him and respect him so much, he deserves it for being the wonderful person that he is ❤

  2. I love this picture too. I saw it last night on facebook, RAnet posted it there too, and I was looking at it for ages, just when you think he can’t look better in a photograph, he goes and surprise you… 🙂 And I don’t mind admitting this, I fell head over heels for him all over again after seeing this picture, he’s so perfect, inside and out… ❤

    • It’s funny that it popped up on the heels of our discussion about all the Photoshopping that goes on with celebrities’ images. I know it is not a new photo, being almost six months old now, and yet it is just what I needed to see to bridge the gap until the new photos/videos from the premieres begin to appear. Anyway, it’s new to me. 😀

      • It’s new to all of us, I think, as it wasn’t shared previously. It does illustrate what we were saying, doesn’t it? The man is compelling and beautiful, as-is.

        • Yes, it just seemed such fortuitous timing, given the discussion we’d just had. And anything the majority of us haven’t seen can be considered “new” I suppose. I am so glad she decided to share it. Mr. A doesn’t need any help from the makeup lady or photo editor. I’ve never seen a better-looking, more appealing case of “as-is.”

      • Yes, funny that isn’t it? 😀 I certainly like a lot more the pictures where he’s completely natural, no photoshop at all, he’s naturally gorgeous, why change it???

        • Sadly, that seems to be the norm for magazine editors and publicists–tweaking, tweaking, tweaking. Here in the US we have a saying: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Well, Richard ain’t broke, so there is no need to fix him, either! 😉

  3. It’s the kindness in his eyes that does it for me. That’s what makes him so special. That’s what grabbed me from the very first moment I laid eyes on him. And hasn’t let me go. 🙂

  4. This is a great shot-those lovely laugh lines around the eyes 🙂 He seems to engage so easily when he talks to fans, giving his full attention. Love it!
